The easiest way I have found is to focus on a single room at a time. Forget about all the other rooms; just concentrate on packing everything that you are taking with you in that one room. Arrange the items to be sold and others to either be given away or ditched. Once you have finished in there, stack the boxes neatly in one corner and get rid of everything in that room that you are not going to take with you. Now, shut the door on that room with a very satisfying click as the door latches on a job well done. Now it is time to move on to the next room, with the same procedure here. However, once the boxes have been filled, move each one of these into the first room to join those previously packed.
Clean as you Pack
Dispose of the rubbish you don't intend to take with you. By now this room should be completely empty. Now is the time to bring in the cleaning items and really clean this room: this is one less room to clean before you leave. Carry on packing in this way, closing off cleaned rooms as you go if you can spare the space and storing each fully packed box in the same room with all the others.
