Food for Healthy lungs - Post Covid Care

Air Pollution in India is at all-time high. Approximately 1.24 million population was killed by dirty air in India in 2017 alone. Increasing number of children are suffering from air pollution related respiratory diseases. We have maximum number of cities amongst worst air quality in world.

Covid 19 has changed the world. It affects our lung & other organs. It is very essential to keep your lungs healthy post Covid.

So how to keep your lungs healthy. Some common foods which are beneficial for good health of lungs are listed below. They are easily available & cheap too.


1. Orange / citreous fruits:
Orange is rich source of vitamin C. It helps in reducing free radical damage which may cause pneumonia. Lemon is another citreous fruit. They help reducing swelling of lungs due to anti-inflammatory action. It is particularly helpful to smokers in reducing COPD.

2. Berry fruits:
Who doesn’t love strawberry, blackcurrant & blueberry? They are delicious & contain Resveratrol, a strong phytochemical. It ...
... has anti-clotting, anti-inflammatory action. Plus is helps in fat metabolism. It reduced oxidative stress which can be contributing factor to lung cancer. Berry fruits are particularly beneficial for heart. They decrease risk of heart diseases. Berries contain high anthocyanins which are good for your bowel.

3. Apples and tomatoes
They have highest potential to protect lungs from toxins, tobacco smoke & air pollutants. They are rich in antioxidants. They helpful to asthmatic patients in reducing wheezing.

4. Fatty fish
Omega 3 fatty acids are very beneficial for lung & hearts. They are found in fatty fish like tuna, sardines & salmon. Fish oils are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids which our body needs to obtain from food. Children with asthma are showing signs of good lung health due to fish oil. Omega 3 fatty acids are very good for your heart as well.

4. Cereals and grains
High fiber cereal & grains have ability to keep your lungs healthy.

Add these foods in your routine diet. Let’s say NO to AIR POLLUTION.
