Appointing new license holders to these dispensaries is a very lengthy process and these delays are not anyone involved in it desired. Yet, it appears as if the situation is now in the hands of the courts and while frustrating, there is nothing to do but wait.
Once lawmakers approved six more licenses, they also confirmed that the six new licenses will be located across six regions in the state. Then applications started to fly in. However, not everyone applying for a license for a medical marijuana dispensary is qualified to fulfil this responsible role and there has been a strict sifting process by those in charge of the allocation of these licenses.

During the first round, the lottery administration qualified only 24 companies to proceed in the process. It means regulators disqualified four companies. These four companies are Atlas Enterprises Inc., The Edward O. Hawkins Centre Inc., Livity Compassion Centre, and Enlite RI Inc. While the team of marijuana lawyers states that they have confirmation on these four names, there is no clarity on which of these four companies is the one that is currently immersed in a legal battle nor why the regulators disqualified the four entities. Like everyone else in the industry, they are also waiting in anticipation for courts to resolve the legal process sooner rather than later.
