• Trim the mustache and get a haircut (if required).
• Performing Ghusl because it’s a recommended sunnah act. However, Wudhu can also be made if the person assuming ihram is not in a state of impurity.

After these steps are taken, the pilgrim must wear its ihram clothes and offer 2 Rakat Salat-al-Ihram. Remember that all of this must be done before crossing the Meeqat boundary.

Ihram clothing for Men.

For men, ihram clothing consists of two simple white-colored sheets of plain cloth. The one used for covering the lower half of the body i.e., from the navel to down below the knees is known as ‘Izar’ and the other one is draped over the shoulders covering the upper half of the body is known as ‘Rida’.

Ihram clothing for Women.

For women, there isn’t a specific dress code to consider for Ihram i.e., they can wear their ordinary clothes as ihram. Nonetheless, it should remain modest, simple, and in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Conditions of Ihram.

When a pilgrim assumes ihram, certain prohibitions are imposed on him/her. Therefore, one should be mindful of the prohibited acts in the state of Ihram to make the umrah/hajj permeance valid.
