COVAXIN at Sarjapur Road
COVAXIN is India's indigenous COVID-19 vaccine by Bharat Biotech and developed in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) - National Institute of Virology (NIV).
• The vaccine received DCGI approval for Phase I & II Human Clinical Trials in July 2020
• COVAXIN is included along with immune-potentiators, also known as vaccine adjuvants, which are added to the vaccine to increase and boost its immunogenicity.
Who should get COVAXIN?
COVAXIN has been approved for individuals above 18 years of age and older, within India
Who should not get COVAXIN?
You should not get COVAXIN if you:
• Had a severe allergic reaction to any ingredients of the vaccine.
• Had a severe allergic reaction after a previous dose of this vaccine.
• Currently have an acute infection or fever.
How many doses of COVAXIN are given?
COVAXIN vaccination series is 2 doses and individuals should take 4 weeks apart. Both First dose and second dose of the COVID vaccine should be taken for maximum effectiveness of the vaccination.

• Injection site pain/Swelling/ Redness / Itching
• Headache
• Fever
• Body ache
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Rashes
A severe allergic reaction may very rarely occur after getting a dose of COVAXIN and these may not be all the possible side effects of COVAXIN.
What should I do about side effects?
If you experience any side effects, please contact your vaccinator or Supervising officer at the site of your vaccination or immediately visit your nearest hospital.
I Have Taken COVAXIN, Will I Be Allowed to Travel Abroad?
With several countries planning to reopen their borders for fully vaccinated travelers, concerns have been raised that Indians who have received Bharat Biotech’s COVAXIN jabs may not qualify. This is due to the vaccine not being approved for World Health Organization’s (WHO) Emergency Use Listing yet.

Covishield vaccine, which was the first to be approved for use in India has a proven efficacy rate of 70%, which can be scaled up to 91% when both doses are administered 12-16 weeks apart. The vaccine also mounts a higher antibody response and prevents severe outcomes. It is recommended that individuals who receive the first dose of COVISHIELD complete the vaccination course with COVISHIELD

WHO SHOULD NOT GET THE COVISHIELD™ VACCINE?
You should not get the COVISHIELD™ Vaccine if you:
• Had a severe allergic reaction to any ingredient of this vaccine.

HOW IS THE COVISHIELD GIVEN?
The COVISHIELD Vaccine will be given to you as an intramuscular (IM) injection only. The COVISHIELD vaccination course consists of two separate doses of 0.5 ml each. First dose and second dose of COVISHIELD must be taken to ensure maximum effectiveness of the vaccination against coronavirus.
WHATARE THE RISKS OF THE COVISHIELD VACCINE?
Side effects that have been reported with the COVISHIELD Vaccine include
• tenderness, pain, warmth, redness, itching, swelling or bruising where the injection is given
• generally feeling unwell
• feeling tired (fatigue)
• chills or feeling feverish
• Headache

• feeling sick
WHAT SHOULD I DO ABOUT SIDE EFFECTS?
If you experience a severe allergic reaction, call or go to the nearest hospital. Call the healthcare provider if you have any side effects that bother you or do not go away.
I Have Taken COVISHIELD, Will I Be Allowed to Travel Abroad?
COVISHIELD is widely accepted and individuals travelling abroad can take second dose after 28 days. Both first dose and second dose of COVISHIELD are being administered at addon Scans and Labs, Sarjapur road. In case you are planning to travel, avail the vaccination to ensure you meet with the norms of travel.
