Lutein is an oxygen-containing carotenoid, which is the main pigment of the retina of the human eye. It is mainly concentrated in the macular area, which is the most sensitive part of our eyes, and is the guardian of the macula. Lutein plays a pivotal role in protecting the eyes. It can absorb a large amount of blue light. Before the blue light reaches the sensitive cells on the retina, the light will pass through the highest accumulation area of lutein. If the content of lutein is rich enough, it can form an effective blue light filter to cause blue light, the oxidative damage would be minimized.

Lutein powder by Kingsci BioTech produces also has a powerful antioxidant effect, it's extracted from the Marigold flowers. The photoreceptor cells in the eyes produce free radicals after absorbing light. The non-renewable retinal cells in our eyes are extremely vulnerable to free radicals. The antioxidant effect of lutein can inhibit the formation of harmful free radicals, help scavenge free radicals and protect the macula. Therefore, it is really important to have enough lutein in the eyes, especially for children.

During ...
... the baby age, it is easy to produce blue light damage. Infants and young children have large pupils, a lot of light enters the eye, and the lens is clear and transparent, which cannot effectively resist blue light. Most of the blue light will penetrate the lens and reach the retina, causing retinal damage. In the age of 0 to 2 years, about 70 to 80% of the blue light will reach the retina, and in the age of 2 to 10 years, about 60% of the blue light will reach the retina. Marigold Extract Lutein is like an invisible little sunglasses, which acts as a barrier to protect the baby's tender eyes.

Lutein is so important to protect the eyes, but unfortunately, the human body cannot synthesize it by itself and can only be obtained through diet. When we are born, a certain amount of lutein is already stored in our body. Every day we grow up, lutein is consumed, so we need to continue to supplement it through diet. Dark green, orange and yellow fruits and vegetables (kale, spinach, leeks, cabbage, amaranth, coriander, papaya, carrots, corn, pumpkin, citrus, peaches, etc.) and egg yolks contain lutein.

The Chinese Nutrition Society has included lutein as an important dietary ingredient for adults in the 2013 edition of the "Reference Intake of Dietary Nutrients for Chinese Residents" and established a specific recommended value of 10 mg/day for lutein, with a tolerable maximum intake of 40 mg/day. Epidemiological investigations have shown that people with a daily dietary intake of lutein up to 6 mg have a lower incidence of age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. And now most eyecare products add lutein powder, which is extracted from the Marigold flowers.
