How To Apply For Medicare

A disability may qualify you, or you can expect to have an automatic enrollment by age 65. If you’re unsure, here are some of the things to do to find out.
The traditional programs are usually Part A and B. This is where you’re going to be traditionally enrolled, especially if:
-You’re starting to receive your benefits from social security when you turn 65. This is when you’re automatically enrolled by the system on the month of your birthday.
-You may be younger than the required age, but you’re already getting benefits from disability on Social Security programs for at least 24 months. If so, the registration will be automatic on the 25th month.
-People who have Lou Gehrig’s disease or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS and are younger than 65 will be registered automatically in Medicare on the month they are starting to get their social security benefits. Learn more about Lou Gehrig’s on this page.
You should watch out for the mail three months before your 65th birthday to see if you’re eligible or call a Medicare representative to check. Some cards are colored blue, red, ...
... or white, and they will tell you if you’re eligible, so you should keep an eye on them.
When people qualify for Medicare, some may delay Part B’s enrollment process, which is usually the insurance. This is because there are premiums to be paid, and some are looking for alternatives on how to cut costs and expenses while they age.
2. Sign Up Process

You may need to sign up manually when you register for Medicare. Examples of these situations happening are as follows:
-You may be qualified for Medicare, and you delay Part B enrollment. This is one reason why you should manually sign up for everything.
-Delaying of your social security benefits later than age 65. This is where you’re going to be not automatically enrolled because the system won’t be able to track the payments of your pension going out.
-You may be younger than the prescribed age, and you have an ESRD or end-stage renal disease. In this situation where permanent kidney failures are possible, you can be qualified, but you need to register manually. This can help in regular dialysis sessions or kidney transplants. The typical way of signing up is through the Social Security Administration or SSA.
3. Knowing When to Enroll
If everything is not automatic and you’re one of those described, when is the right time to start the application process?
-The initial period of enrollment typically starts at 7 months, and this is 3 months before your birthday. This will include your birthday month and 3 months afterward.
-The general enrollment period every year is from January 1 to March 31 each year. If you cannot keep up with this time frame, you may be facing a penalty that’s exclusive for late enrollees.
-There’s a particular enrollment period that qualifies a lot of individuals. This can apply to union group plans or if your employer is covering you. Delays are allowed if you’re still covered with the group’s Medicare plan, and you’ll have about 8 months of time frame for registration without penalties. Ask for advice from trusted experts regarding this and get help from representatives whenever necessary to make the process smoother.
