Discover More About These 6 Indian Divas Who Were Crowned Miss World

Miss World is the world's oldest and most prestigious beauty competition. Eric Morley invented it in 1951 in the United Kingdom. Julia Morley, Morley's wife, has co-chaired the pageant since his death in 2000. This pageant is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants, along with Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss Earth.
While we all believe ourselves to be beauty queens, there are others who have gone above and beyond to compete in one of the world's most famous beauty pageants and bring home the crown, making us all proud. Yes, we're talking about the Miss World beauty pageant, which has been running since 1951 and is considered the oldest international competition.
Miss World is a title held by a handful of the most beautiful women in the world who continue to inspire many young women to follow in their footsteps and establish a name for themselves. The pageant's motto is 'Beauty with a Purpose.' Vision, attractiveness, intelligence, wit, hard work, sensitivity, and personality are all considered when ...
... awarding the title. We've compiled a list of these six Indian Divas who have all been Miss World at some point in their lives.
1. Reita Faria
Prior to India's stunning victory in 1994, when Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai won Miss Universe and Miss World, beauty queen Reita Faria was the first woman from India, and even Asia to win the title. Reita won two sub-titles in 1966, 'Best in Swimsuit' and 'Best in Eveningwear,' as she shined in a saree. With her involvement on the global stage, she had a goal in mind, and her final answer drew a lot of attention and applause, helping her win India's first Miss World crown.
Question asked and her winning answer:
Reita, a medical student at the time, was asked why she wanted to be a doctor at the grand finale, and she replied because India needed more obstetricians and gynecologists. The jury, amused, then observed that India already has a large number of babies. That was something we needed to discourage, Reita instantly answered!
After winning the pageant, Reita had multiple film offers, but she preferred to concentrate on her medical studies. After earning her MBBS degree in Mumbai, she traveled to London to pursue her education at King's College Hospital. Reita Faria and her husband David Powell live in Dublin. The beauty queen made history and served as an inspiration to many future beauty queens.
2. Aishwarya Rai
After a 28-year hiatus, India regained the title when Aishwarya Rai was crowned Miss World in 1994. Aishwarya started her modeling career in college and has since starred in various television ads. She then competed in the Miss India pageant and placed first runner-up, after which she went on to represent India at the Miss World 1994 pageant, where she won the crown. This Mangalorean beauty hasn't looked back since winning the Miss World crown. Aishwarya Rai has risen through the ranks of Bollywood to star in blockbusters such as Devdas, Guru, and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam before moving on to Hollywood films. She continues to be a show-stopper wherever she goes, especially during the Cannes Film Festival, where she wore bold costumes and is still being featured in the most beautiful woman in the world lists.
Winning Answer:
"The Miss Worlds that we have had up to this point have been proof enough that they have demonstrated compassion," she said when asked what attributes a Miss World should possess. Compassion for those who are less fortunate, not just for those who are wealthy. We've got folks who can see beyond the national and racial borders that man has erected. We need to look beyond those, and that is what a true Miss World would be like. "A true person, a genuine individual."
3. Diana Hayden
Miss World from India was awarded to the Anglo Indian model in 1997. Miss World - Asia and Oceania, Miss Photogenic, and Spectacular Swimwear were among the three sub-categories she won. She, like Aishwarya Rai, tried her hand at being a Bollywood movie star with her debut film Tehzeeb but was unable to build a name for herself. She appeared as a wild card entry in Big Boss in 2008.
Winning Answer:
Hayden responded to the query "Why she wanted to be Miss World?" by saying, "I take inspiration from a famous writer and poet, William Butler Yeats, who once wrote 'With Dreams Begin Responsibility.'
4. Yukta Mookhey
In 1999, she became the fourth Indian woman to win the Miss World beauty competition. She also won Miss World-Asia and Miss World-Oceania during the competition. Yukta is presently actively interested in humanitarian activities, but she tried her hand in Bollywood in 2002 with Pyaasa, in which she co-starred with Aftab Shivdasani. She was, however, unable to enter the sector. Yukta's most recent film appearance was in the comedy Good News, in which she portrayed an IVF patient.
Winning answer:
She was asked whom she would want to be if she could be anyone in the world during the pageant's question and answer round. “Audrey Hepburn, without a doubt,” Mookhey stated. It was her inner beauty, kindness, and radiance that drew people in. Her inner peace was reflected in her demeanor.
5. Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra, who is now a global sensation, was crowned Miss World in 2000 and has been shooting for the stars ever since. Mrs. Jonas, also known as PC, has served as a true role model for millions of young women, and she continues to steal the show on the red carpet and on the big screen, establishing fashion trends like no one's business while also giving back to society through her humanitarian endeavors.
Winning Answer:0
"Who among Adam, Eve, or Satan would you punish if you were God in the Garden of Eden?" Priyanka was approached and asked a question. "I would imprison Satan, the Serpent, if I were a police officer in the Garden of Eden," PC answered, "because I believe that evil is induced, not generated." Eve was certain that Satan was correct, and she trusted him. Let us take a lesson from this and learn how to distinguish between good and evil without being prejudiced.
6. Manushi Chillar
Manushi made news in 2017 when she donned the blue crown. This lovely lady, who was born and raised in Haryana, has been progressively capturing the hearts of her millions of Instagram followers - from establishing fitness goals to making stunning fashion statements.
