If you wish to retrieve your Snapchat messages, you need to rename the files in order that the .nomedia extension is removed.
This can be done by installing a file manager application. You can find the File Manager apps on the Google play store. Alternatively, you can either download an APK file.
Search file manager on Playstore and download any of them
Astro File Managers, OI file manager, and File Expert are some of the best file manager applications you can find on Playstore.
Now search for the files with the .nomedia extension on your device. All other apps snub this file type, which makes the data obscure. These are all your messages from Snapchat.
Pick all the messages and rename them in order to remove the .nomedia extension.
This will let other apps display the thumbnails so that you can see them again.
