Modern Trend In Eating Becomes A Hunting Norm

There was a time in history when the only kind of eating that took place was locavore. It was a time long before the world became civilised and there were no supermarkets or grocers on the corner. If you wanted to eat meat, you had to hunt it down within the region you stayed. Then throughout history, this all changed. Meat eaters could start to shop for all their needs without ever killing an animal as the best cuts would be beautifully dressed and vacuum sealed on the shelves of the local grocery store. While hunting continued, it became less about being able to eat and more for fun. Today, the world is turning back on its heels and what we are witnessing more often today is that locavore deer hunting might have started as a trend, but is rapidly becoming a norm.
According to the trusted team of hunting experts at Westervelt Lodge, the hunting industry has been showing signs of decline over recent years. To combat this decline, the industry put various efforts into place, like lowered fees and cheaper licensing options. This was not making the difference that the industry hoped for, but now the new way of eating has ...
... turned the situation around.
Locavore hunters are increasing in their numbers and this is not only good for the hunting industry but also supports conservation efforts and improves the eating habits of many. These hunters hunt to be able to source clean and healthy meat that they’ve hunted ethically, to their families and friends. When it comes to deer meat, you’ll hardly find a healthier alternative as these animals are free of any chemicals and their diets are completely natural.
While some opt for locavore deer hunting because of the many health benefits it holds, others are into it as they see it as hunting for a purpose. The decline of the hunting industry was largely due to an increasing concern about killing animals for no reason except maybe for fun. This caused a tremendous outcry from animal activists. It was an outcry that not only changed the mindset of many but also put many off the industry completely.
Now, there is a purpose to hunting again. Food would always be in demand and even more so is the need for clean and healthy meat alternatives. The team at Westervelt Lodge are avid supporters and facilitators of clean locavore hunting practices. They state that when hunting is merely focused on the size of the trophy you take home and mount onto your wall, the interested crowd is declining. However, food is a subject with a far more common interest and the industry should find a good balance between the hunting experience and sourcing food from the wild. When hunting is restored to a practice where there is a benefit to many for killing an animal, just like in the times when hunters hunted for food, the industry is becoming far more interesting to a much wider crowd. Hunting for food remains the purest form of hunting. The team also emphasises that their locavore deer hunting is not only such a popular option due to the changed focused of the practice, but also due to the tremendous camaraderie that exists between these hunters when they are in the wild. It is all about finding the perfect shot to bring back nothing but natural goodness to be enjoyed in far more ways than showing off your skills using a mounted trophy. It is the kind of hunting that is far nobler and it is why it is such a growing trend in the industry.
About Us:
Our hunting history at the Westervelt Lodge dates back as far as 1951 when we hosted our first deer hunting trip. On that day in November, 78 hunters and six dogs gathered and in total, they managed to take down three bucks. Yet, although we still remember the exact weight of these bucks, it wasn’t what stuck with us. No, it was the fun and the amazing experience we shared in the field out hunting. It is the same amazing hunting experience that we still offer today to our visiting hunters and it is what keeps them returning year after year. You can visit our website at https://westerveltlodge.com/ and explore more of our rich history stretching over almost 70 years and then maybe add your part to the story of hunting at the Westervelt Lodge.
