Almost every serious deer hunting will join at least one deer hunting club in their lifetime. There are numerous advantages to joining a club like this, such as networking with like-minded individuals. Each deer hunting club is different, which is why there are certain factors you should take into consideration when it comes to making your selection and deciding which deer hunting club to join.

Before you start your search, it's important to note that anyone can name a piece of land a deer hunting club when they advertise to look for members. This doesn't mean it is suitable or what you are looking for, which is why you want to take your time, researching the club, reviewing them online, and then comparing them to find the match that best suits your hunting preference and needs.

The first factor to consider is how far you will need to travel to frequent the deer hunting club. Unless you want to go away for a few days at a time when you can, choosing a club closer to home will help you enjoy your sport on a regular basis. You don't want to spend more time in the car than on the hunt.

The second important ...
... factor is the active deer in the area. Any reputable deer hunting club will have signs of active deer. When there is no deer around, then the chances of your hunt being a success is very small. You want a club with plenty of activity. Most clubs will let you come and visit, give you a chance to check the land for yourself before you decide. As you make your way around, look for droppings, deer hoof prints, and shed antlers, along with scrapes on the ground and areas where the bark has been removed off the tree due to the deer rubbing themselves.

Any club you choose should have some form of decent accommodation. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to accommodation and sleeping arrangements when on a hunting trip. Some prefer a soft bed, while others are happy with a
sleeping bag on the ground. Always check this, even if you don't intend to use the accommodation, you may want to stay over one night and know what is available to you.

The size of the hunting land is very important when choosing a deer hutting club. The more land the better. You don't have to hunt all of it, but the increased size does provide you with a lot more hunting options. You can look for areas with dense forests, creeks, swamps, open fields, and streams. Always ask the deer hunting club manager where the boundaries are located to reduce the risk of you going onto someone else's property by mistake, which is illegal.

Find out about the club size. There are advantages and disadvantages of a large deer hunting club, the main advantage of course is there are always people there to help you clean and dress the game you kill and there is always someone around to chat to. Disadvantages include problems with certain hunting territories, such as the hot spots everyone goes to where the deer are common.

In addition to this, take note of the deer hunting club rules. Every club has its own set of rules that members must follow. These are useful in keeping the club safe and enabling everyone to enjoy their hunting experience. Some of the more common rules include wearing a safety vest and not drinking any alcohol while hunting. Ensure you get to know and always obey the rules to reduce the risk of your membership being rescinded as a result.
