The sector of energy is the most crucial one and which is very much necessary for growth of the economy. Various types of industrial centrifugal process fans are used in the thermal power plants.

There has been a marked rise in the consumption of electricity, over the preceding few years. The power industry of the Indian subcontinent is very extensive. On one hand, it includes traditional sources such as natural gas, coal, oil, hydro energy and nuclear energy. At the same time, there are solar energy, wind energy and bio- waste, as well, all of which are non- traditional sources.

There has been a marked rise in the consumption of electricity, over the preceding few years. It is anticipated that this demand would increase even more, with the passage of time. Also, the Government of India is striving in the direction of providing electricity to all households of the country.

Here, it would help to briefly elaborate on some more related points.

• India is positioned at number three across the globe, with regard to primary consumption of energy, and is behind just China and USA.
• When we take ...
... into account the leading electricity producers of the World, it is seen that India holds the number three position.
• Thermal power plants make up for almost 70% of the entire electricity that is generated in India.
• When the corresponding scenario of April 2020 is considered, thermal energy was the major contributor to the total energy capacity of the country. At that point of time, its installed capacity was well over 230 thousand megawatts.
• Let us look at the details related to the total thermal power generation in the country. The respective share of power generated by states and the centre stands at nearly 28% and 25%. And, about 47% of the thermal power is attributable to entities operating in the private sector.
• It has been observed that more than 85% of the power generated by thermal plants is coal- based.
• Thermal plants make use of lignite, gas and diesel to generate power, too.

The Top Thermal Power Stations Of India
In the country, the top five thermal power stations are coal-fired ones. The stations are:

1. Mundra Thermal Power Station, Gujarat
2. The Vindhyachal Thermal Power Station of Madhya Pradesh
3. The Gujarat- based UMPP (Mundra Ultra Mega Power Plant)
4. Sasan Ultra Mega power plant, Madhya Pradesh
5. Tiroda thermal power plant, Maharashtra

Thermal Power Plants - Importance Of industrial Centrifugal Process Fans
The industrial process centrifugal fans are of immense value in all industries, with the sector of thermal power being no exception to that. Varied types of centrifugal fans are used in thermal plants for providing fuel to burners, generating air necessary for combustion and enabling proper gas circulation. These are few of the salient aspects:

• To sustain gas flow within the boiler, the plants depend on draft fans.
• Likewise, forced draft fans enable taking in air from the environment and directing it inside the furnace, by means of a preheater.
• Induced draft fans collect hot flue gases that are present within the boiler and direct these gases towards the chimney, from where they are expelled outside. For this purpose, even the FGR (Gas recirculation Fans) can be counted upon.
• Thermal plants also rely on the primary air fans, which provide the air essential for moving the coal between the coal mills and furnaces. This coal is in the form of fine particles.

In power plants, industrial process centrifugal fans play an important role in supplying air necessary for fuel combustion and for the maintenance of temperature in the furnace. Industrial Centrifugal fans of various types and capacities are used as process fans in power plants depending on the requirements.

Reitz India is a leading manufacturer and supplier of premium Centrifugal Fans that find wide usage in heavy industrial applications. Reitz India has incorporated latest technology in ID Fan and PA Fan design and fabrication to provide energy efficient solutions with high quality manufacturing standards.
