Tips For Window Film Removal

Window film is a layer of film that is placed over a glass window to help keep rooms cooler and protect furniture against sun damage. Window film is most popular amongst home conservatory owners as it is an ideal method of controlling the climate within these heavily glassed rooms. There are several types of window film available which have a wide variety of uses from solar window film to help heat reduction, ultraviolet filters, privacy film and safety film to name a few.
However unless your window film was fitted by professional window film supplies then they can start to bubble and can over time deteriorate and creak. Once the film does start to do this then it can start to look very unattractive. There are many reasons that window film sometimes needs to be removed, in some cases people simply might just want more light in a room or don't like the look of the film. But whatever the reason, sometimes window film has to be removed.
Window film removal is a very slow and tedious process but it can be carried out by anyone. It is advisable that before you undertake any removal ...
... of window film that you can refer to the manufacturer's guidelines to prevent damaging the glass.
Removing window film can depend upon the type of window glass and the type of the film that has been installed, however below are a set of basic tips for removing window film.
1) Peel any loss edges or creaked areas of the film window
2) Spray the remaining pieces of window film thoroughly with Ammonia
3) Cover sprayed areas with a dry sheet of plastic
4) Uncover and re-spray the area every 30 minutes
5) After 2 hours the ammonia should have absorbed through the window film and broken down the adhesive so now remove the plastic sheet
6) Take a razor blade, and softly scrape away the exiting window film
7) Wash the windows with soapy water and a nylon cloth to help remove any excess traces of adhesive
Here I would just like to make a special note that Ammonia is extremely poisonous so please make sure the room is well-ventilated and you wear a mask to avoid breathing in fumes before you start the process of removing the solar window film.
So there you have it, you should now have film free windows.
