Biosafety Lab

Aim of Biosafety Labs: The main Aim behind the biosafety measures is to keep a check on harmful biological agents, chemicals, radiation etc. These biosafety measures have earned so much importance in the present environmental situation, and also to eliminate or minimise biological contamination, there are three important concepts in the field of biosafety
Biological hazard
Bio containment
Bio protection
Biological Hazard-Is the potential risk of uncontrolled exposure to biological agents that cause disease.
Bio containment- These are the methods used to prevent infectious disease from leaking from research centres or other places where they may be produced.
Bio protection- is a set of measures that are taken to reduce the risk of loss, theft, misuse or intentional release of pathogens and toxins, including those of governing access to facilities, materials & storage and data & publication policies.
Importance of Biosafety Labs: Biosafety lab is important to ensure the safe utilization of technology. Certain biosafety levels have been proposed for the laboratories depending ...
... upon the pathogenicity of the microbes being worked upon.
These protect the environment and the surroundings from the hazards of the microbes.
Biosafety labs - Crucial role in today’s World: Biosafety labs are playing a crucial role to fight against pandemics. As a part of this battle, biosecurity is playing a vital importance, since it is responsible for preventing risks to health and to the environment from exposure to biological agents that cause the diseases.
Applications of Biosafety Labs: Biosafety laboratories are doing more than conducting research into methods of eradicating the virus.
Advantages of Biosecurity
Food: Biosafety allows us to analyse and manage risks regarding food safety while environment improves food safety and streamlining the trade.
Agriculture and Livestock: As for livestock business and farms, biosecurity is used to stop illnesses from entering and spreading within and from expanding to other forms or to the society.
Environment: Biosafety deals with plant diseases, animal infestations and diseases that are transmitted from animals and humans as genetically modified organisms and their products.
Advantages of Biosafety issues:
Eliminating risks
Giving a sterilized environment.
Use of high efficiency particulate filters.
Inbuilt ventilation system.
Some of the steps taken to prevent biosafety measures:
There should be proper approval for those areas where genetic engineering processes occur.
It is necessary to follow biosafety guidelines.
Various biosafety levels have been proposed for the laboratories depending upon the variety of pathogens being used while doing experiments.
Different levels of Biosafety
There are different levels of bio containment precautions taken up to protect the laboratory basing on the organisms.
Biosafety Level1: This is considered to be the lowest biosafety level and is applied on those organisms which are least treated. Ex: E-coli
Biosafety Level 2: These agents are responsible for causing human disease like HIV, Encephalitis etc.
Biosafety Level 3: As for this, experiments are done on those pathogens which cause life threating diseases like West Nile virus, Bacteria causing tuberculosis etc.
Biosafety Level 4: At this level, humans works on high risk zones i.e , in contact with the exotic microbes . If one gets affected it can take their life too.
Advantages of Biosafety in today’s World:
Agriculture
Chemistry
Biotechnology
Medicine
Exobiology
Ecology
To Design, develop and manufacture products and equipments required for installation of Cleanroom interiors at par with international Standards. Cleanrooms depend on precisely controlled environmental conditions. To minimize contamination risks and protect people and assets, their technological infrastructure must adhere to the most stringent quality standards. More Info:https://www.icleantech.com/
