Cutting and reshaping mesh can be a little bit challenging & difficult at times. Depending on the product's size, you may need some serious hardware to cut it through. (After all, one of the advantages of a wire mesh fence is that it is hard to cut!). Wire mesh products are used in a variety of ways by customers, from protecting garden areas from pests through to keeping dangerous animals in their control and even adding a unique design feature to interiors and exteriors. For a long time, people have used fencing to keep troublemakers out of their property. We get asked a lot about how to cut stainless steel welded mesh and woven mesh, and the response is that it depends a lot on the wire diameter. So, here are some tips for cutting wire mesh.

How to Cut Wire Mesh Fencing of Various Types
First of all, always remember to be safe and keep safety in mind! You should wear thick gloves and eye shields always, while working with weak meshes. Even if you aren't cutting with high-powered hardware, it's simple for metal pieces to fly.
Thin mesh
...
... There is a fine wire mesh at the thinnest end of the spectrum which is usually used to safeguard small and vulnerable products. With a gauge of up to.20mm, this can usually be cut with just a good pair of office scissors
However, few companies, apart from perhaps nurseries and operations along these lines, will work with mesh.
Medium mesh
The wire can be cut with dedicated snippers or wire cutters from approximately.22mm to 1.20+mm.Position the snippers as close to the overlap or weave points as possible when cutting. There are many loose ends you don't want to leave as they can easily snap on clothing and skin and do lots of harm.
The thickness cutoff here is a bit ambiguous because it will be determined largely by the strength of the snippers and your hand strength.

Thick mesh
Cutting woven wire mesh by hand is impossible above around 1.50mm. At the very least, you'll need an angle grinder with a 0.9mm cutting disc. Keep spectators far away from the cutting area and wear hearing protection. Plasma torches are much better, but you're unlikely to find one lying around.

If no cutter is available, a hacksaw can be used to cut wire panels. For the cleanest cut possible, use a blade with a high teeth-per-inch (TPI) count. Using a hacksaw to cut wire, regardless of TPI count, is difficult unless the wire has a large diameter.
