The very first hybrid car was launched by Toyota in 1997 when Toyota Prius was introduced. Nowadays there is a huge variety of hybrids for us to choose from but Toyota is still at the forefront of this development.

These cars becoming more popular with each passing day in the UK. The reason is that the range, availability and price of these vehicles are quite suitable for them. There is a huge risk in electric cars that they might die after in-use for a while but a hybrid car doesn’t die, it has a self-charging mechanism.

What is a hybrid car?
The structure of hybrid cars is simple, they combine an electric motor with a combustion engine, as indicated by the name. the main thing is that the car uses the electric motor when it is moving slow, while it switches to a combustion engine once the car accelerates. The fuel used in hybrid cars is mostly diesel but diesel and biofuel can also be used. The combination between both engines make the fuel economy better and it allows you to drive more climate-friendly.

There are three types of hybrid cars:

Mild hybrid:
A ...
... mild hybrid car is mostly run on a combustion engine that is fuelled by diesel or petrol. That makes it use only a small amount of electricity by a smaller engine.

Full hybrid:
A full hybrid car is a self-charging car. It has both a combustion engine and an electric motor. The battery can get charged automatically while driving hence it doesn’t need to be connected to a charging station.

Plug-in hybrid cars
A plugin car has both engines, the electric and the fuel combustions engine but it runs mainly on the electric motor. You can easily charge it on any charging station with a cable. On shorter trips, it runs like an electric car.

5How does a hybrid car start?
When you start a hybrid vehicle, it will start with its electric motor.

What is the driving mechanism of a hybrid car?
The car can automatically adjust to the amount of electricity that is required according to your driving style and preference. Whenever you increase the space while driving, the car switches to the engine, and the battery start charging in the process. This is the working mechanism of hybrid cars.

Acceleration and high speed
Whenever you accelerate, the electric motor works in harmony with the combustion engine. This helps your car to maintain a high speed.

Brake and stop
The battery of the electric motor will automatically get charged when you slow the car or apply the brakes. This is possible because of the energy recovery unit (kinetic energy). It gets activated instantly if your car slows down or brakes

What are the benefits of a hybrid car?
The biggest advantage of using a hybrid car is that you save money on fuel and you help keep the environment safe at the same time. Hybrid cars have low CO2 emissions because the petrol engine is connected with the electric motor. In this way, the fuel consumption of the vehicle is greatly reduced.

A hybrid car reduces noise pollution as it runs way more quietly than a car with a combustion engine. A hybrid car also has an automatic transmission. It can be refuelled way quicker than a normal petrol car. hybrid cars provide great fuel economy because the fuel engine is supported by the electric motor at high speeds.

Plug-in hybrid car
The plug-in hybrid cars are a lot different from a full hybrid car. a plug-in hybrid car has more range as compared to a conventional hybrid car. they have bigger batteries. They have a range of 35 miles when it is driven on the electric motor. After the electric motor discharges then the petrol motor takes control.

If you want to keep the fuel level down and drive more green, then plug-in hybrid cars are best for you to drive in the city. It makes city driving even easier because of the automatic transmission. The range of the car is based on multiple factors. It will drop if the weather is extremely cold or the vehicle is driven at a very high speed. The range can also reduce if the battery is not fully charged.

This car is a plug-in and not a self-charging hybrid, which means that you need a charging station either in your house or somewhere closer to where you live. A plus side is that there are multiple charging and parking spaces in the city where you can park for free.

You can find car service in Reading  not only for traditional car but also for hybrid cars. Many garages service and maintain hybrid cars.
