The Importance Of Running Routines For Beginners

Going for a jog or a run every day is always fun and exciting. However, if you are a novice runner, things can get a little confusing. There are a few things you need to keep in mind to ensure you have a safe and beneficial run. Also, your goal should be to try and build up to a point where you run non-stop for maximum effectiveness. If you don't follow a solid routine from the beginning itself you will find yourself dealing with all kinds of issues, ranging from muscle soreness and sprains to dehydration and fatigue. So let's get you started off on the right note with tips on how to set a good routine for your runs.
Find the right equipment -
This is crucial and something many people underestimate. Make sure the clothes you are wearing are loose and breathable and don't cause chafing of any kind. These are the kind of issues you usually realize only once you start running.
Hydrate and stay hydrated -
Make sure you are constantly drinking water in steady intervals, before, during, and after the run as well. Don't get tempted to indulge in juices or energy drinks and aim for a clean hydration routine.
...
... Pile on the proteins -
The energy you need for your runs will come from proteins. Make sure you increase your protein intake as you start running. Not only will this give you the energy you need to keep running but will also help repair muscle and ease muscle recovery. You could opt for eating egg whites or maybe even try out a good protein shake. Protein bars are always a good pick-me-up that many runners swear by.
Organize your runs -
Often, new runners tend to go for a run whenever they find the time or feel like it and this can be harmful. It is important to let your body get accustomed to a routine. Your run should also be supported by a good nutritious breakfast or meal so plan it accordingly. You also need to plan the path you intend to take and scope it out beforehand.
Plan for injuries and aches -
If you are runner and especially a new runner, you will learn to make peace with regular injuries, sprains, pains, and aches of all kinds. However, that doesn't mean that you should suffer silently and bear with it. A number of techniques can help you avoid and deal with this sort of pain. For instance, a good sprained ankle treatment involves applying an ice gel that will mimic the effect of an ice pack. Try different remedies and see what works well for you.
Warm-up -
We cannot stress this enough - warming up your body and stretching before a run is probably the number one thing that will save you from pulled hamstrings, stitches and aches.
Finding a good routine before and after a run is almost as important as the run itself. The aim is to get your system accustomed to a pattern that is sustainable, doesn't cause injuries and helps you make the most of your efforts. Even something as simple as always carrying along a gel for muscle pain can end up saving you from a lot of discomfort.
