Renting Or Buying It Equipment: Which Option Is The Best For Your Business?
IT forms part of everybody’s life. It has become an essential addition for all of us, right from the child that plays games on their smartphone to the retired grandfather that makes internet payments on his PC. And of course, no business will survive today without a good IT complement.
The age of information technology has made it necessary for every company or organisation to ensure that they stay abreast of what the latest, the most recent IT requirements and demands are for their business to thrive and, for some, survive. Servers, computers, tablets, other hardware and software form part of our daily vocabulary, we need IT to perform, to run our businesses, to make sure we survive.
This means business plans have to provide for the procurement of staff and equipment – also IT equipment. Careful consideration has to be given to issues such as what a company’s needs are, how purchases will impact budget – also n terms of replacement in break/fix scenarios, or when equipment is no longer useful and should be added to a business’s legacy complement.
There are more issues to consider: ongoing maintenance, ...
... replacement because of the introduction of newer systems and products as most equipment has a certain lifespan only and may not be useful to a business’s demands. This poses the question: Is it better to buy and own one’s IT equipment, or should one consider other avenues, such as to approach a service that hires out equipment?
For many, this is indeed the answer – to hire their IT, and also related systems and equipment such as AV. Financially it makes more sense for many: you hire your equipment at a fixed amount every month which means you can control cash flow better, it is often more affordable than having to fork out huge amounts on the equipment if it is bought.
There are other benefits too: If you hire the equipment, you are not the owner and will therefore not be liable for maintenance issues, or when the equipment starts to malfunction, or when it is time to replace equipment because it no longer does what it is supposed to do. This happens regularly since new products and equipment are introduced all the time.
Think, for example, of the time when Apple Inc. introduced their first Apple I which did not even have a keyboard or monitor, to be followed by the much improved Apple II in 1979, the well-received Macintosh in the ’80s, other additions – and the success the company has been enjoying since the introduction of mobile devices such as the iPhone for example and, more recently, the iPad tablet which is a leading product for millions all over the world.
Apple Inc. has remained a leader in terms of the electronics and IT equipment they have constantly been bringing the public. Businesses now rent these all the time, and depending on the service provider you deal with, such equipment is available for either short or longer-term rental periods. This suits many businesses as they may need these only during peak periods, or when they host a conference, or when they provide in-house training.
Different businesses have different needs and requirements, and therefore they will look around at the best hire services to meet their requirements, whether they want to hire Apple’s products, for instance, iPad options such as the iPad Mini, iPad Pro, or iPad Air, for example. Of course, there are various other Apple options available, and the company constantly introduces new products.
Apple is not the only company whose products are popular. Think of Samsung, of other computer companies such as HP computers and a host of others. A good hire services company has these – and more – available to ensure their clients can hire the best, and latest models on the market. Therefore many more businesses than ever before opt for hiring – and not purchasing – their IT equipment.
