I was fortunate enough to have a client with multiple sclerosis who hired my services as a massage therapist to help her with stillness in her legs and pain in her shoulders, mainly due to the attachment to the body. Wheelchair.

The first thing I asked myself was: what are the neurological set of this person in their legs and lower body versus upper body? During the evaluation, I found that she has skin sensory sensations when her skin touches her feet, but cannot move them at all. There is no nerve connection with the motor nerves which would compress the muscles to move them. This is its reality on the lower part of the body. Body Massage in Muraqqabat

Her upper body is better because she moves on her hands, wrists, and fingers. However, muscles atrophy in the upper body, but not as much as in the legs.

The problem with wheelchair disability is that the lack of contraction of the lower limbs means that there is no leaching of waste products from the surrounding muscles and tissues. This leads to stiff muscles and joints. Massage therapy is useful in washing the ...
... products of life from the tissues and lymphatic channels. However, to relieve stiffness, some physical therapy is needed to stretch the tendons and ligaments that have become rigid due to the static nature of their movement.

After a 15-30-minute massage on the legs with stretching of the tendons and ligaments, I got an improvement in the volume of the movements of the legs, knees, and hips, but in a week they will restore the degree of stiffness and tugging.

Because muscles cannot contract, contractures or adhesions between muscle bundles and fibers increase, resulting in increased stiffness. Regular joint movements and regular massages will relieve painful sensations in muscles or joints caused by lack of mobility.

The muscle complex in the shoulder becomes more tied up using these muscles to move and move around in a wheelchair. Therefore, infraspinatus, subscapularis, and supraspinatus are prone to knots and stiffness. Regular massage of these muscles will help reduce shoulder pain.

The muscles of the lower back, especially the lumbar region, suffer from being in a wheelchair and having no torso flexion or extension. These muscles tend to stiffen from stillness and need a massage to reduce hypertension due to lack of contraction and flexion.

Within a week, the joints will stiffen again, the muscles will stiffen again, and the pain in the upper body will return. In this case of muscular sclerosis, there is a subtlety - no pain in the lower extremities, since there is no nervous recruitment of sensory or motor nerves. Spa in Muraqqabat

I'm assuming there is damage or plaque built upon the nerves and/or the breakdown of the myelin sheath on the nerves, preventing nerve conduction from running along the nerve. Until we find a way to destroy the plaque and regenerate myelin, there will be little hope of improvement. There will probably only be support or degeneration and more stillness of the body. There are still benefits to regular massage therapy and mobilizing the joints over a range of motion to reduce stiffness and pain.
