Bangalore (bengaluru) - The Modern Face Of India

Even though the city of Bangalore has been living since ages, it is better known as the modern face of India. The first city in the country to receive the first wave of modernization, Bangalore has ever since lead to modernization. From being the first to receive electricity to being the first in getting a Silicon makeover, Bangalore has always lead other Indian cities when it comes to upgrading itself to attain a world-class status.
Historically, Bangalore is connected to the Vijaynagar Empire. It is believed that the town was laid by feudal lord Kempegowda, a vassal of the Empire. It was later on under the rule of various other rulers and dynasties including the Mughals and the Marathas after which it finally went to the Wodeyars and then to the British who gave it its modern identity. It was the town's pleasant climate and green look that made the British stay back here. The best and the most happening areas here were established by them and still retain the names and typical characteristics.
Unlike other major cities in the country, Bangalore has not inherited much of architectural wealth. ...
... However, tourists would find a lot many places to explore and go around. A major landmark in the city is the Vidhan Soudha. The legislative house of the state, the building is a marvelous Neo-Dravidian structure with an unmatchable grandiose and splendor. Another architectural marvel in the city is the Bangalore Palace. Made as a replica of the Windsor Castle of England, it is owned by a scion of the Wodeyar dynasty. After a recent renovation, the palace lawns and grounds are given out for public functions. The interiors are lavish and are elaborately done in rich carvings, paintings and other art work.
The cultural side of the city can be best experienced at the ISKCON Temple. Offering a perfect blend of modernity and spirituality, the temple promotes Vedic culture. The Bull Temple and Maha Bodhi Temple too are highly revered and visited here. Going towards the more leisurely attractions in Bangalore, one can check out the various gardens and amusement parks in Bangalore. Wonder La Amusement Park is a new addition to Bangalore list of attractions. It is a rewarding space for all the fun and amusement it offers. It enjoys the fame of being the largest amusement and water park in the country. A fun spot for kids and adults alike is the Innovative Film City. With attractions like replicas of Ripley's Believe it or not museum, Louis Tussad Wax Museum, Funplex, Aqua Kingdom (artificial beach), Dinosaur World and cartoon City, the place can keep you occupied the whole day.
Shopping can also be a good experience here. The entire city is dotted by swanky malls and happening shopping arenas. The Forum, Garuda Mall and Bangalore Central are the best known Malls in Bangalore. A good number of restaurants are also there in the city. Though typical South Indian delicacies dominate the cuisine of Bangalore, food from all corners of the country and all across the globe have also found their way here. The best known hotels and spas are also present in Bangalore offering good accommodation and luxuries to tourists in the city.
