Microsoft Account Recovery
Microsoft account provides you an option to reset your forgotten password in just simple steps. If you have made an account on Microsoft, then resetting the forgotten password on Windows 10 will not be a problem. See the below steps:

Click on the I forgot my password option.
Enter your email address to confirm that it’s you. Choose how you want to get a code to reset your password.
Click on Get Code, and a new verification code will be sent to your email address and through text messages.
Enter the code.
Create a new password on your Microsoft account ...
... and click Next.
Now, Windows will confirm your password. Now, click on the Sign-in button that appears on the screen and enter your new password.
Reset Password in Safe Mode Command Prompt
You can also rest your forgotten Windows 10 password using the safe mode command prompt easily. Below are the steps to reset Windows 10 password.

On the Windows 10 display screen, click on the Restart in shutdown button.
Three options will appear: Continue, Troubleshoot, and Turn off your PC. You need to select Troubleshoot.
At Troubleshoot, click Advanced Options.
After clicking on Advanced options, few options will appear and click on Startup Settings.
Now, Restart your system to change Windows Boot options.
After restarting your system, few options will appear. You need to choose to Enable Safe Mode using Command Prompt using numbers 6 and F6.
Choose option no. 6, and your system will start again and boot from Safe Mode.
Now, the system will ask you to choose an account to sign in. Once you sign in, you will be taken to administrative Command Prompt rather than normal desktop windows.
You need to reset your Windows 10 password using Command Prompt. For this, type net user and press Enter. You will be able to see all your user accounts.
Then, type net user 123456, press Enter, your password has been reset to Windows 10 with any data loss.
Reset Password using Local Account Recovery
When you are using a Local Account to Log in to Windows 10 is harder now due to Microsoft’s Privacy. But it’s still possible. If you are using the same, then make the required security questions to help you recover the password. For this, follow the below steps.

Go to Settings>Accounts>Sign-in Options> Password> Update security questions link.
You need to enter the Local account password and select your security questions, and a new set of questions will appear. You need to answer and click Finish.
Now, you need to enter a password that the system will automatically say incorrectly.
Click on Reset Password, and new security questions will appear that you need to answer and click on the arrow next to the last answer and choose Next.
Enter your new password and again type the new password below and select Enter and you are all set to go.
