Focus Assist on Windows 10 is an excellent setting. It is used to unite notifications & alerts and to display them in the notification center. Its old name is Quiet Hours. Focus Assist shares the same features as Quiet Hours with a different name. But it combines some more customization features compared to the previous one. So, let’s learn how we can use it.

What is Focus Assist on Windows 10?

Focus Assist comes on tablets and PCs with Windows 10. It facilitates the way of managing system notifications. You can disable and enable it. It provides three primary options you can choose from.

Off: This option is designed to turn off Focus Assist and allow all notifications.
Priority only: This option is designed to show alerts or notifications only from desired contacts.
Alarms only: This option doesn’t allow any notification apart from those that come from alarms.
How to enable or disable Focus Assist on Windows devices?

You can turn on or off Focus Assist quickly on Windows 10. Here are the required steps to do so.

Go to the Windows search bar located ...
... in the bottom left corner. Just type Focus Assist and hit enter. Or ask Cortana to access it. You can also go through the Action Center to access it.
If you have a touchscreen device, you can swipe your finger on the right corner of the screen to access Focus Assist.
Open it to set it on turn Off or On, Priority only, and Alarm only.
Follow these steps if you want to manage Focus Assist again.
How to change Focus Assist’s settings?

Access Action Center on your device.
Find Focus Assist under the Action Center and right-click on it.
In the case of a touchscreen device, touch and hold.
When the link for Go to Settings comes, hit to open it.
Now you will have access to the Settings app of Windows 10 with an option of Focus Assist.
You get three options in the beginning, including Off, Priority only, and Alarms only on the Focus Assist under the Action Center. You can get any of the options on both Settings app and Action Center. The Settings app screen only allows you to update four settings that appear under Automatic rules. These settings allow more customization in Focus Assist.

What are Automatic rules on Focus Assist?

Below is the meaning of the Automatic rules. Please read below to understand them.

During these times: This rule enables Focus Assist for a specific time in a day. You can also use Priority only and Alarm only under this rule.
When I’m duplicating my display: This rule is designed to assist you while projecting your computer’s display. You can opt it to know about the notification during the screen projection. It only works with the Alarms only option.
When I’m playing a game: It helps to manage Focus Assist in creating a different preference while playing a video game.
When I’m at home: This rule is designed to modify Focus Assist settings when you are located at your home by the device GPS tool. It is compatible with the Priority only option.
Do Not Disturb Mode at Windows 10

Apple devices come with Do Not Disturb. And if you are looking for the same on your Windows 10 device, you may wonder that Focus Assist is also a Do Not Disturb feature as it acts the same as Do Not Disturb. Focus Assist only has a different name.
