Oh, what a gorgeous place Kashmir is!

I have been there multiple times but the beauty of this place leaves me mesmerized each time. The mountains are so bewitching and peaceful.
It’s almost hard to believe that a place like this exists.
I have a special place in my heart for this alluring place.

Do you know that Kashmiri jewellery is as beautiful as this place?
Even the traditional dress of Kashmir can leave you charmed!

The traditional dress for men is basically a Kurta and Salwar which is called Khan Dress. Although it is known as Pathani in most parts of India.

Kashmiri women usually wear Salwar and Kameez. There is a piece of loose garment worn over the Salwar and Kameez called Pheran. Women usually tie a scarf over their head which covers their hair.

Now that we are done talking about the traditional dress of Kashmir, we definitely need to discuss jewellery of Kashmir

... Jiggni or Tikka
It is Kashmiri jewellery worn on the forehead. Jiggni can be circular, semi-circular or triangular in shape.
This ornament is usually made of either gold or silver. They have fringes that might have hanging pearls or gold leaves attached at the ends.

2. Dejhoor
Dejhoor is one of the most popular kinds of Kashmir traditional jewellery worn by married women.
These are mostly worn by Kashmiri Pandit women. It is a pointed and hexagram-shaped earring worn on both ears with the help of a long chain. The chain could be made of gold or thread.
The Kashmiri Pandit brides wear them a day before their wedding. This is done during a ceremony called ‘Divgaon’.
The earring is suspended with a red thread for the upper-ear cartilage and the chain is replaced with a gold chain at the groom’s house.

3. Alkahor
Alkahor is a Kashmiri jewellery that rests above the ear on both sides. They are connected to each other with a long chain.
These Kashmiri Earrings are usually worn with the traditional dress of Kashmir i.e. Salwar-Kameez donned with Pheran, a loose upper garment and a scarf wrapped around the hair.

4. Kanadoor
Young girls wear this kind of Kashmiri earrings. Kanadoor is studded with red and green stones and may even be embellished with pearls.
These earrings are mostly made of either silver or gold and have a very intricate design.

5. Kana-Vaji
Kana-Vaji is made out of gold embellished with pearls. This jewellery symbolizes marital status.
They are worn by married women and on a daily basis.

6. Necklace
Kashmiri necklaces usually have triangular designs which are connected with the help of a black cord to match the hair colour of the Kashmiri women.
There is a particular type of necklace called Halqa-band. It is a beautiful choker that is generally studded with mirrors. It has an adjustable strap at the back to adjust the choker according to your neck.

7. Bingar and Kack Koor
Bingar and Kack Koor are types of bangles. This Kashmiri jewellery is worn by Kashmiri Muslim women mostly at their wedding.
Bingar is a thin bangle usually with a twisted sort of design. On the other hand, Kack Koor is a thick, cuff-like bangle that usually has a plain design.

8. Manthoora Kada
Manthoora Kada is also a kind of bangle worn by Kashmiri Muslim Women. It is a very colourful Kashmiri jewellery that is heavily encrusted with stones.
