When the blood flow decreases through the coronary arteries, which carries the blood to the heart muscle, is called coronary artery disease (CAD). High cholesterol, incredibly unhealthy low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol may increase your coronary artery disease risk (CAD).

Here are the causes of coronary artery disease:

An accumulation of sticky cholesterol and other substances inside the artery walls causes CAD. Plaque is the term for this build-up. It makes the arteries hard and narrow, allowing less blood to flow into them. The progression of Atherosclerosis is the hardening of the arteries.

You are more likely to have coronary artery disease if you:

• have a family history of heart disease.
• are overweight or obese.
• eat a diet high in saturated fat, trans fat, sugar, and salt.
• have high LDL cholesterol levels or low levels of healthy high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol in your blood.
• smoke tobacco.
• are inactive.
• have uncontrolled high blood pressure.
• have diabetes.

To pump blood properly, the heart muscle ...
... needs a constant supply. Angina is a type of chest pain that occurs when there is inadequate blood flow to the heart muscle. A heart attack may be caused by a total blockage of one or more coronary arteries. Without enough oxygen, parts of the heart muscle will die, resulting in permanent heart damage or death.

How to prevent coronary artery disease naturally?

Some minor changes to your daily routine could help protect your arteries and prevent coronary artery disease (CAD). Here are ways to improve your lifestyle.

• Certain foods are good for your heart, while others lead to artery-clogging plaque formation. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, fish, nuts, and olive oil are good antioxidants. Sweets, full-fat dairy, red and processed meats, and fried foods products should be restricted or avoided.

A teaspoon of salt per day is the maximum amount to consume. Blood pressure can be increase if you take too much sodium.

• The heart muscle is strengthened by aerobic exercise. It also reduces body fat, decreases blood pressure, and raises levels of protective HDL cholesterol. Working out will help you lose weight while also lowering your LDL cholesterol.

Aim for 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise each week. Or, once a week, do 75 minutes of high-intensity aerobic exercise. If you are new to training, make sure it is healthy for you by consulting your doctor first.

• Each puff of cigarette smoke releases thousands of chemicals that narrow your arteries and damage your heart. If you smoke cigarettes, quitting reduces the chances of having a heart attack.

Quitting smoking is not straightforward, but your doctor will assist you with a variety of methods. Medications, counseling, and nicotine replacement drugs may all aid in the reduction of the smoking urge.
