Stainless steel tubing’s are one of the flexible and adaptable metal alloys which are used in fabrication and manufacturing. Two common most types of tubing are seamless and welded. Deciding between both welded vs seamless tubing depends on application requirements of the product.
In choosing between the two take care about the initial tubing should be compliant with project scheduling and secondly, it must meet the conditions for which tubing will ultimately be used.
Tubing vs piping
The words tube and pipes are used correspondently, because both are hollow shaped there are important difference between two when deciding welded vs seamless tubing needs.
Tubes are guarded by outside diameter (OD) and wall thickness. A pipe is being measured by inside diameter. And tubing is being used in constructional and aesthetic applications whereas piping is used for transporting, fluids, liquids and gases.
Seamless Tubing Manufacturers
Seamless tubes are defined as they don’t have welded seam. The manufacturing of seamless tubing requires a system which is implemented to force the hole into rooms. ...
... The tubing is manufactured through prominence process, where tube is drawn from solid stainless steel billet and extruded in hollow form.
The billets are initially heated and then converted to oval molds that are hollowed in piercing mill. While hot the molds are drawn through mandrel rod and broaden. The rod mining process expands the mold length by 20 times to form a seamless tube shape.
Welded Tubing Manufacturers
Welded stainless steel tube is manufactured through roll forming strips or sheets of stainless steel into tube shape and then welding the seam length-wise. Welded tubes are skilled by hot and cold forming processes. Between both cold forming ends up in smoother finishes and tighter forbearance. Each method creates long-lasting, strong, powerful, steel tubes that resist decomposition. The seam is left beaded or it is further worked by cold rolling and forging methods. The welded tube can even be drawn almost like seamless tubing to supply a finer weld seam with better surface finishes and tighter tolerances.
Selecting between Welded vs Seamless
There are various advantages and drawbacks in choosing between welded vs seamless tubing.
Seamless Tubing:-
According to its definition, seamless tubes are uniform tubes, the properties includes more power, higher corrosion resistance, and the ability to withstand higher pressure than welded tubes. This makes them more suitable in critical applications in rough surroundings but it comes with price.
Its benefits include
Stronger, higher corrosion resistant and excessive pressure resistance.
Applications include
• Chemical Lines
• Oil and gas Lines
• Chemical procedure using plant stream and heat trace bundles
Welded Tubing:-
Welding tubes are less costly than seamless tube due to simpler manufacturing process in creating welding tubes. It’s also available as seamless tubing in long continuous length. Standard sizes may be produced with similar lead times for both welded and seamless tubing.
Seamless tubing costs may be offset in smaller manufacturing runs if less quantity is required. Otherwise, though custom sized seamless tubing will be produced and delivered more quickly, it's more costly.
Benefits
• Its cost-efficient and quick lead times
• Applications
• It’s used in architectural uses.
• Used in Automotive and food & beverage Industry.
• It’s also used in marine and pharmaceutical industries.
