What exactly is asked in TOEFL?

The exam comprises 4 different section and tests candidate’s English proficiency on these 4 parameters. They being reading, writing, listening and speaking. High Intermediate (if you score between 18-23)
Low-intermediate (if you score between 4-17)
Below low-intermediate (if you score between 0-3)
The interesting thing about the exam is that there is no pass or fail score. It entirely depends on the institution you are applying to as to what their requirement is. For example, you scored 90/120. College A accepts TOEFL score above 80 and college B accepts TOEFL score above 100. So, you are eligible in college A but not in college B.

For preparation, candidates should try to practice as much as possible, listen to audio transcripts, podcasts, movies and talk with peers in English, try to summarize any article and self-record his/her voice to make corrections.
