Another block printing center in Rajasthan is Sanganer which is famous for Sanganeri block printing. Sanganeri prints are a symbol of richness and royalty. Around the 16th century, some craftsmen left Punjab & went to Rajasthan due to the Mughal war & gave birth to divine beauty known as Sanganeri print. Sanganeri prints w the most liked and traded design of that time. East India Company made a huge profit from this. It is mainly inspired by royal patronage and heritage.

Sanganeri print includes all kinds of flowers & motifs, mainly sunflower, roses, and narcissus. Other than flowers, designs depicting various gods, fruits, and folk scenes are also popular. SANGANERI PRINT is the prettiest and most beautiful design ever seen. This divine beauty is the status of faith of the people on their religion & worship. SANGANERI is also known as ROYALE PRINT. It is a handmade print made by craftsmen and weavers, which includes pure natural colors mainly, yellow, red & black.
There are several methods of manufacturing Sanganer print:
Direct process _- Artisans use two blocks, one for filling and ...
... another for outline process begins. These blocks are made at Sanganer and Purani Basti, The new blocks are soaked in oil for 10-15 days to soften the grains in the timber. Each block has a handle and cylindrical holes into the block for free air passage and, it also allows the release of excess printing paste. These blocks have different designs & motifs carved on them.
Resist Method _- For this method, dye matter obtained from plants and vegetables are resistant, using wax, clay, and raisins.
Discharge process – In the earlier part of the nineteenth century, it was discovered that it was possible by chemical means to bleach out or ‘discharge’ a pattern in re-printing.
Rogan printing _- In this technique, the cloth has outlines over-printed with gold. The designs were used by the royals and natural dyes were used. Now, artisans use chemicals for Rogan style which, is far less expensive.
It is the most-liked and wore design from centuries in our society. It is a stylish expression of comfort and creativity imbibed in one. It is by far the easiest print to maintain. However, one would not want to wash it too regularly since the color of the dye can fade with time.
