Unfortunately, various risk factors can affect the education of people and their general development the most. In some cases, this influence might result into 'poor' vocabulary, so patients are not able to explain their issues. The study that was conducted by the Institute of Education in UK showed that only 10 risk factors can potentially negatively affect the lives of more than 18,000 families, and this fact is the bitter truth of everyday reality. Based on the data provided in the case study related to EDVS shelter, such risk factors include depression (people who suffered domestic violence to certain extend might feel that it was their fault as it is a typical reaction of the body or thought that the life was unfair to them and became depressed due to that); financial stress (it is rather typical that victims of domestic abuse are totally controlled by their partners in terms of financial management, and once they leave, they end up without money); low skills (due to isolation and unemployment for long periods of time); and no higher education (as it has been mentioned in the study, the majority of women have only high school ...

In order to assess the reading level of the population, I would need to turn to special tests, which not only can be simple and even fun for smaller children but also help the educator identify the level of the knowledge. The first step would be to conduct the reading evaluation, which involved reading three different books: one about something people like; one about the thing or person they like; and one about changes they would make. In addition, every reader would have a task to retell what he or she read and/or to rewrite it in a small abstract. This step would help me understand whether the respondents not only read but also understood the content. The other thing that I would do relating to the reading evaluation is a short and easy survey with direct and indirect questions regarding reading. To measure reading comprehension skills is a bit more complicated, as it would require the participants to do certain exercises.

Thereafter, I would ask them to read the story, visualize it, and tell me how they saw the main characters in their imagination. Additionally, I would ask certain questions about what they read and how they could connect it to real life situations or other examples so that I could see whether they comprehended the information. Furthermore, scholars offer various tests that help measure the comprehension level of the students, which include listening test, wide range achievement test, and newest vital sign. However, I would opt for the simplest one, as it has been mentioned before that the traumatized population have various difficulties, and some patients can be unable to read at all.

In order to achieve success in educational process, I have to look into application of more than one strategy, and the best thing to start with is to establish a certain trustful relationship with all members of the group so that they can feel open and comfortable. This aim also includes trying to help them build close relationships as they can support one another instead of being critical if someone lags behind. In particular, I would use reading and comprehension results in order to group the respondents according to their literacy levels. During the learning process, due to the possible difficulties of comprehension, I would start with small 'portions' of information and add slightly more each time I saw the progress. Moreover, I would actually turn to the visual resources and try to circle out the outstanding information by incorporating pictures, presentations, and games (learning while playing method) into my classes. The information would be presented in small amounts, and I would ask questions when necessary. As a nurse educator, I should also keep motivation levels high as well as use repetition as many times as possible. Therefore, establishing trustful relationships both with students and among them is the most crucial for achieving success in educational process. To do it properly, it is important to consider their comprehension skills and literacy levels.

There are various options that can help me to evaluate the level of learning once certain educational strategies have taken place, and the first one is a regular survey, which was already mentioned in the question #2. In particular, it would help compare and contrast the initial information from the previous surveys with the results of the latest one. Personal approach to every individual is another option that I would use in this situation, as I might need to talk with each person separately in order to find out whether she or he has learnt anything; moreover, listening to the feedback about my performance as a teacher would be very important as well. However, the basic means that would help me define the level of knowledge are theme-related tests, which include written, oral, and visual tasks at the same time. I think that it is also important to understand that everyone could not progress with the same pace and some might struggle, so I would try to create the best atmosphere and even talk in private with those who lag behind in order to see whether some students require additional repetition of the material, which is not a problem anyway.
