Online Electrical safety training is the practice of both understanding the risks associated with working in or near power sources and minimizing the risks associated with them. Examples are high voltage batteries, live wires, powerful electrical equipment, and power transformers. There are many common-sense factors in electrical safety (do not stick the fork in the electrical outlet), but in many cases, electricity behaves in a way that is resistant and requires extensive electrical safety training to be able to predict.

WHY DOES ELECTRICAL SAFETY MATTER?

Because we all depend on electricity for our daily lives, it can be forgotten that electricity is, in fact, a potentially dangerous thing. It takes a lot of energy to power a building or a single room. It is no exaggeration to say that life is endangered with electrical safety; a strong current passing through someone's body can kill them in an instant or cause serious injury.

Ensuring that your employees are sufficiently trained in electrical safety is your responsibility and should be a top priority. While paying for employee training may seem onerous, ...
... it is far less expensive than dealing with incident-related costs after the fact. Employers in these fields are responsible for their employees’ training and can be held accountable for accidents that occur due to insufficient electrical safety training.

WHAT PEOPLE WHO WORK WITH ELECTRICITY SHOULD KNOW

Anyone who works with live wire or should know the basic principles of lightning nearby – OSHA’S quick for Electrical Safety is a good tool to keep in your back pocket - enough assessing the risks they face and how to deal with them. The only important practice is to always be careful and always assume that the wire you are working with is excited for live and lethal current and voltage.

BASIC ELECTRICAL SAFETY PRACTICES SHOULD BE FOLLOWED in all cases. These include:

• Taping extension cords to the floor or to the wall instead of allowing them to hang or lay loose
• Avoiding the use of conductive materials like metals around high voltages
• Ensuring that the equipment that is in use is rated for the level of voltage and current that you are using
• Regularly inspecting cords and electrical connections (outlets, plugs) for wear or other signs of damage, and replacing them if necessary
• Checking potentially current-carrying wires and metal surfaces with a multi-meter

WHO SHOULD BE TRAINED FOR ELECTRICAL SAFETY?

The electricians and workers who support them are not the only ones who are exposed to electrical hazards on a regular basis - anyone working with high voltage equipment or near life, exposed to the principles of exposed virus electrical safety and the following employees:

• Electricians and their assistants
• Construction workers or general contractors who use power tools
• Engineers who work with electrical devices
• Employees who work with flammable gasses or liquids that may be situated near sources of high voltage
• Anyone who would be in a position to extinguish an electrical fire
• Vehicle service workers or other employees who work with devices that have high voltage batteries
• Administrative and support staff who work onsite
