Are You Aware Of The Different Types Of Headache?
Headaches can be very tough to deal with, especially severe headaches. If you're troubled with a regular headache, the headache medicine you often choose is something like Combiflam but when it's a severe headache you'll need some additional measures.
Headaches are annoying and the causes of a headache cannot be certain. For instance, a severe headache like a stress headache is caused due to multiple factors. Factors such as irregular sleeping patterns, anxiety, environmental change etc. could be a few of many sudden headache reasons. What you should look out for are the symptoms of a headache. It helps you identify your problem is serious or not. Normal headache symptoms include:
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Dizziness
• Eyestrain
While these are the common headache symptoms experienced, in case of a severe headache you need to understand a bit further. We've mentioned below a few severe headaches and what causes them.
Migraine headaches
The pain in a migraine headache usually starts from the left ...
... side of the head. The pain differs from a normal headache and can be differentiated into two categories:
• Migraine with aura
• Migraine without aura
The sensations you experience during a migraine is known as an aura. Lasting for about 10-30 minutes these sensations occur before a migraine attack. Other migraine headache symptoms include:
• Less productivity mentally
• Loss of smell, taste or touch
• Minor hallucinations
• Numbness in face and hand
Cluster headaches
These are one of the most intense headaches on the list. The pain in a cluster headache starts from one eye which extends to nearby areas of the face. Lasting anywhere between 30 mins to 3 hours, cluster headaches are known to occur multiple times a day. What causes headaches behind the eyes is unknown but medical experts believe your body clock could be a reason.
Cluster headache symptoms include:
• Intense pain around or behind one eye which gradually spreads to other areas of the face.
• In rare cases, the pupil becomes smaller on the affected side.
• At times your eyes could look bloodshot as well
Tension headaches
Often a sign of stress, a tension headache is one of the most common types of headache in today's world. The pain ranges from mild, moderate to even intense and your lifestyle can be responsible for it. The affected areas include the eyes, head and even neck in some cases. Symptoms of a tension headache include:
• Mild or moderate head pain.
• A feeling of pressure around your forehead.
• Dizziness in rare cases
Sinus headaches
Everyone is aware of sinus headaches. It is a result of air-filled spaces inside your forehead, cheekbones and behind the bridge of your nose. It can create a blockage if they swell, thus building up pressure in your sinuses eventually resulting in a headache.
Sinus headache symptoms include:
• A runny nose
• Blocked ears
• Fever
• Swelling in and around your face
Headache management
A headache medicine can deal with a normal headache but if you do experience a severe headache persistently, please see a doctor immediately. Headache medicines like Combiflam Plus are usually suggested by doctors for normal headache relief. But when it comes to severe headaches, you need extra help to deal with them.
• Avoid bright lights and commotion as it can only worsen your condition.
• Take hot or cold compresses to relieve the pain
Severe headaches could last anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days, hence it's best to seek medical attention. If your headaches are persistent, please see a doctor immediately to find a solution.
