A cough without any interruption for a few days requires cough syrup to protect our throat. The consumption of cough syrup could be with or without the consultation of the doctor as the pharmacist would be able to help us on this if there is no prolonged cough.

It is important to consume limited amounts of cough syrup. If a person goes overboard with excessive intake, he/she could have several problems such as excessive sweating, nausea, belly pain, restlessness, and dry, itchy, and facial redness.
Despite having cough, it is recommended not to consume cough syrup for seven days in a week because it could produce multiple side effects, as suggested previously. On the other hand, if a person is having a relentless cough for a week, it is important to consult the doctor before it turns too bad at the end.
Some of the basic ingredients of cough syrup include camphor oil, eucalyptus oil, and menthol.

Another type of cough syrup is ayurvedic cough syrup, which does not contain any chemicals. This means that they are plant based and the toxins are removed without any second thoughts during production.
They produce relief in productive bouts of coughs. Besides, they also reduce inflammation and relax the throat. When they are consumed for a long period of time, it will help restore the full functionality of lungs.
Some of the main ingredients of ayurvedic cough syrup are tulsi, banapsha, pipli, and yastimadhu. Apart from these three, garlic is a famous choice in the ayurvedic cough syrup. They help you with cold, thereby putting a full stop to your cough problems.
