Technically anyone can click a photo, you just need to press the shutter button on your camera. But shooting an eye-catching or striking photo needs special skills and talent. You need to know the basics of composting, exposure, and a few other stuff to make your photos look impressive. In this article, we will share with you some excellent photography tips that will help you click outstanding photos. Let’s take a look.

Rule of Thirds

Well, plenty of composition rules are there that you have to learn, but the “rule of thirds” is one of the most important and basic tips that you need to know. The rule of thirds says that while clicking a shot you shall draw two equally distanced imaginary lines horizontally as well as vertically. This means, you basically need to create an imaginary 3 × 3 grid. Now make sure when you click a photo, your subject shall be in one of the cross-sections.

Well, most cameras give you this grid mode option that you can enable in the Settings. Not in cameras, but you get to this feature even on smartphones. This is one of the easiest ways to make your image look effective.

Leading ...
... Lines

Lines are one of the most important factors in making a drawing look excellent. So always be mindful and try to create an imaginary line while clicking your shots. Leading lines basically lead to your main subject, and help you draw the attention of viewers to a specific site or subject in your photograph.

Filling the Frame

Filling your frame completely helps you get more attention to the main object in a photograph. So try to cover and fill the whole frame while clicking a photo. You can go closer to your main subject so that it can occupy more space in the image. Well, it’s not 100% necessary that you need to fill the frame all the time, sometimes you can leave empty space in your photos if it looks good. It’s all up to you, how creatively you can click an image.

Negative Space

In the photography world, the main subject in your image is known as positive space and the rest of the surrounding is called negative space. Well, negative space is generally used to describe feelings, such as stress, activity, grandeur, nature, peace, and more. You can make the background black to show darkness. Well, it’s all up to you, how creatively you use negative space in order to turn your image into a masterpiece. You can even blur out cars, trains, people, around your main subject, it also looks very cool and effective.

Depth of Field

Depth of field is basically the distance between the nearest and the farthest points that are kept in focus in a photo. In simple words, it’s the area in the photo that appears clear or not blurred. Depth of field is used to create a blurry background that you can adjust or control by managing the distance between the camera and the main subject, adjusting focal length, and aperture.

If you want to get closer to your subject, you shall wider the aperture, and the more focal length will lead to shallower the depth of field, which means your subject will be kept less in focus. So whenever you click a photo, you shall be mindful of the depth of field and use it to your advantage. If you want to isolate your main subject from the background in order to reduce distraction, make sure you narrow down your camera’s depth of field.

You can use the above-mentioned techniques to make your photographs look outstanding. These tips will definitely boost your photography skills, you shall try them. Thank you!
