What Is Coronary Artery Disease?
Aed Defibrillator
Whatever heart disease you might get an aed defibrillator is a must-have. An AED or Automated External Defibrillator is a portable device that in case of sudden cardiac arrest determines the heart rhythm of a person. AED will deliver a shock If necessary, to help the heart re-establish heart rhythm. All AEDs easily available on aed superstore today. You can even get them online on CalMed equipment.
Coronary Artery Disease
Atherosclerosis is the build-up of fatty deposits and cholesterol inside the arteries and coronary arteries are the blood vessels that carry blood to your heart. Due to atherosclerosis the coronary arteries are narrowed and blocked which causes coronary artery disease. As this condition is caused by atherosclerosis. These fatty deposits can clog the arteries, which stops blood flow to the heart muscle. And if our heart does not get enough blood, it gets unable to carry the oxygen and nutrients it needs to work properly. This severe condition leads to angina or heart attack.
How It Happens?
Coronary arteries are smooth and elastic when they are healthy. These ...
... arteries are lined up with thin layers of the endothelium. These cells help to protest the walls and help the arteries to regulate the flow of blood freely through them. This is not an old-age disease, it is at a very young age. At an early stage, the vessels start gathering the fat on them. As we get older the fat starts to build up and starts to cause minor damage to your blood vessels. Eventually, other substances that move through your blood vessels such as nutrients; including protein and vitamins, inflammatory cells, start to attach to the vessel walls. These things combine with the fat and form atherosclerosis. These Plaques are not of the same size, but most of them have a hard cap around them but are soft from inside. Due to sudden movement, this hard fibrous cap might break and the fats inside it are exposed. Due to this blood clots form around it which are platelets and this can irritate the endothelium and make the artery more narrow as endothelium stops working. Sometimes, due to the flow of the stream, the blood clot breaks apart and the clot moves away so blood can flow through the area again but if it doesn’t break it blocks the supply of blood to the heart muscle which can lead to serious disease such as acute coronary syndrome.
Symptoms
Angina is a pain in the chest caused mostly when your heart muscle due to any reason doesn’t get the proper oxygen it requires from the blood. Due to which one may feel pressure or squeeze in the chest. It is one of the most common symptoms of coronary artery disease. It can be mistaken for indigestion or heartburn so one should know the difference between both as Angina is usually felt in the chest where the heart is, but you may also feel it in your left shoulder, neck, jaw, or back. Other symptoms of coronary artery disease are mentioned below.
● You can feel shortness of breath due to minor exertion, you should not take it lightly.
● Palpitations in the heart are feelings of irregular heartbeats like when the heart skips a beat or if you feel a “flip-flop” feeling in your chest. You can check your palpitation by holding your wrist in a certain way.
● If you feel a faster-than-normal heartbeat often you need a checkup because it is not normal and can be a symptom of coronary artery disease.
● You may also feel dizzy at times because of the lack of oxygen-transporting to the heart.
● Feeling Nausea is another symptom of it but it can happen due to other reasons as well.
