When we think of silver many people might heard about sterling silver but apart from that there are many types. You know purest form of silver is too soft and that’s the reason it gets damage very soon or its changes their shape very quickly, for that purpose silver used with other metals to make it harder and durable. So before buying silver if you have its different types of knowledge, it will help you to purchase in proper manner. So let’s check its different types.
1. Silver Jewelry – It should be marked with approved stamps and must tell its purity level. You must always ask to silver jeweler about how much alloy is contain.
2. Fine Silver – It is purest form of silver which made up of 99.9% silver and .1% other element. This type of silver is white and can turn into delicate jewelry but it is not durable and loses its shape as it too soft.
3. Sterling Silver Jewelry – It is durable and wearable as well. Sterling silver has best shine but it’s harder to maintain. In this 92.5 % contain pure silver and 7.5 % combined of copper. That is the thing it is more durable and wearable.

... Silver Jewelry – This type of silver is more durable, tarnish resistant so it is easy to maintain but it is more expensive, and under some situation it can tarnish. Argentium silver is more pure than sterling silver and also comes into two grades i.e. 93.2% or 96% purity which is alloyed with germanium and copper. That’s the reason it is harder and easy to maintain.

5. Nickel silver jewelry – It is inexpensive; it is ideally used for costume jewelry because it is more workable and durable. Actually it is not silver at all because it contains 60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc.
6. Silver plated silver – This type of silver is affordable and mostly used for costumed jewelry, but it is not durable and contains very less silver. As name indicate it is silver plated only means which contain very thin layer of silver over a base metal.
7. Silver filled Jewelry – It contains extra silver than silver plated, It is affordable as well. It is not an alloy but it is types of plating contain heavier layer of silver. It tarnished easily.
8. Tribal silver jewelry – Beautiful design can be made using this type of silver which is inexpensive but it contain harmful metal, not hypoallergenic, It doesn’t contain silver and having low durability.
9. Coin Silver Jewelry – It contains pure form of silver i.e 90% pure silver and remain alloy is made using copper, rare, affordable. It tarnish easily.
