Biological farming, a new alternative to sustainable farming
In an attempt to accommodate the food demands of the growing population farmers are using chemical fertilizers in their field just to fasten the growth and increase their profit. But this practice is not only harmful to soil and crops but is equally harmful to the consumer as it will affect their health.
An alternative to this has been found in biological companies that have given us organic fertilizers or biological agriculture products that are very effective on both soil and water and do not harm the health of the consumer.

What is biological farming?
Biological farming follows scientific principles and has its core in microbes that are the basis of all agriculture production systems. It is simply a chemical-free method of farming in which the main focus is on increasing the microbiology of the soil that enhances plant growth.
In biological farming, you don't need to use large quantities of chemical fertilizers and pesticides because it relies on the use of aerobic and liquid inoculums. It restores the naturally occurring microorganisms ...
... like bacteria, protozoa, fungi, and earthworms to the soil.
Further to add on biological farming includes organic farming, biodynamic farming, sustainable agriculture, and natural sequence farming.

Role of Biologicals in agriculture
Biology is the branch of science that deals with the study of physical and chemical attributes, their molecular composition, and the evolution of organisms. Agriculture is the practice of raising crops and taking care of the soil and water.
Biologicals have played a very important role in the farming sector as it looks at the whole picture which includes agronomy, environment, nutrition, and biological components that make soil healthy. With the use of new technology and advanced methods crops are grown without harming the ecosystem and fertility of the soil in the long run.
With various other advanced techniques plants are made resistant to pests and disease such that they can fight danger by themselves. Overcoming the problems caused by conventional farming and reducing the dependency upon it is the major challenge of biological farming.

Benefits of biological farming
Things which are made naturally are very beneficial for everyone. Here are some benefits of biological farming.
Through biological farming, the soil becomes so dense with the presence of beneficial organisms that it can resist environmental stresses like drought.
It is reduced or no use of chemical fertilizers as all the soil nutrients are accessible to the crops through the soil by using biological farming practices.
It can reduce the water input to the plants and can also increase the growing season.
Compared to other farming methods plants grown through biological farming tend to resist disease and pests.
There is high nutrient density in the plants.
Due to the presence of beneficial organisms in the soil, the root mass of the plant naturally increases which leads to healthier crops.
The water retention capacity of the plants also increases.
The taste of the fruit is much better than the fruit grown in chemical fertilizers.

How to start biological farming?
Before starting biological farming you need to follow certain steps to get the best results.
Balance of the soil should be maintained like the structure, minerals that will determine the health of the plants
Test your soil before putting anything on it. What all things are already present in it and what are the things that are not present in it.
Use independently tested compost and build organic humus and matter by mulching, composting, and green manuring.
To increase the beneficence of soil like earthworm and protozoa use some management methods.
Consult some experience farmer who has used biological farming practices in his farm.
Use good quality compost and fertilizer and try to stay away from chemical fertilizer that can damage the soil as well as plants.
For more knowledge read books and journals related to biological farming practices.
Consult some biological farming consultant who has proper knowledge and experience in the required field.

Rules of biological farming
Biological farming is a complete system of profitability, sustainability, and practicality so some rules need to be followed to maintain this.
Use the fertilizers that cause minimum damage to the soil and plant.
Before applying anything to the soil first check the pH level and fertility of the soil.
Soil should be balanced and should be nourished with proper nutrients and minerals.
Maximum diversity of the plants should be maintained using green manure crops and tight rotations,
Carbon from compost, green manures, and crop residues should be feed in the soil.
Future of biological companies in farming
People are fed up with the harm caused by conventional farming and looking for a better alternative to this which is biological farming. There is a great scope in biological farming in India and the world too. To feed the growing population we need more production of crops and that too in a safe manner for everyone. For these good farming practices, good biological products will play an important role.
Many biological companies already exist in India. One of them is IPL Biologicals that is known for its best agriculture product and practices in the market. Some of its products include biofertilizer, bio fungicide, bioinsecticide, bio nematicide, a botanical insecticide, growth promoter, and decomposer. Its crop solutions include nutrient management, disease management, insect-pest management, growth promotion, and decomposer.

There is no doubt in the fact that microbes are the basis of all agricultural practices and how important they are for the soil and plants. Through biological farming, scientists focus on the cause of the problem rather than on symptoms. If you are focusing on current crops and profits then you can go for conventional farming methods but if you are looking for long then go for biological farming practices as it maintains the fertility of the soil for a very long time whereas conventional farming is good for the current purpose but regular use of such farming practice damages the fertility of the soil and toxins in the plants.
Go or such practices that have long-term benefits and are beneficial for everyone.
