FAQ 1: How do I renew the expired McAfee products?

A pop-up will appear displaying the message ”McAfee software has expired” if you buy the renewal license after the product’s expiry. You can neither update the expired products nor can you receive the notifications related to that McAfee product. You will keep receiving this message until you renew your license.

Uninstall the McAfee software and reinstall it again to stop these messages. If you still receive a statement regarding the expiration of the license after you purchase it in less than 11 months, then take customer support’s help for the renewal process.

FAQ 2: Will I get a call from McAfee for the processing of the subscription renewals?

You might get a call from McAfee to renew the subscriptions. McAfee holds a subscription retention program in which they call customers for the renewal of the subscriptions. If you do not want the telephonic process for the renewal, simply call our contact number and place the renewal order.

You may also save your credit card details if you do not want to renew the subscriptions via phone call in the future. They will automatically deduct the charges through the auto-renewal function. Also, the account will renew automatically every year unless you choose the cancelation option. The continuity of your services will be maintained by renewing your account 30 days before the expiration. Auto-renewal enables automatically at the time of purchase, as mentioned in the End User License Agreement.

FAQ 3: Why do I receive a credit card error message whenever I try to renew the subscription?

This error is possible if you have mentioned the incorrect billing address. It should be the one used on your credit card and billing statement.

Fill in the following information correctly to avoid such errors:

Expiration date of credit card
Credit card number
Name of the credit card holder must be the same as printed on the card
Billing address must be the same as printed on the credit card billing statement
If the problem persists with this billing option, you may opt for another convenient payment process.

FAQ 4: I am still receiving the messages to renew my subscription, but I have already renewed it.

There are multiple reasons for you to receive these prompts. It could be a message to renew any different McAfee product other than the one that has already been renewed. Or, your McAfee software is not able to connect to McAfee subscription servers. This makes the software assume that the subscription is still not renewed.

FAQ 5: Is reinstallation necessary after I renew my McAfee software?

There is no such requirement for this. McAfee services are managed online and automatically check for any latest updates. They make the information regarding the latest releases, and there is no need to search by you. These subscription services also enable the McAfee auto-renewal by default. They automatically renew a month before the expiry date.

Reinstallation is only required if you have uninstalled the products or bought any different subscription service. In case nothing of this sort has happened, the product will update to the new license on the next update.

You can even manually update for the automatic update of your new license. Follow the steps given here:

Connect your device to a strong internet connection.
Check for updates by right-clicking on the McAfee icon present on your taskbar.
A dialog box will show ”Your McAfee services are up to date” if there are no updates available.
Finally, tap the ”Finish” option once the update is complete.
Note: Save your work and close the running applications if you are required to restart your device.

FAQ 6: What will happen if I renew the subscription before the expiration date?

There are two types of situations.

If you renew the subscription early:
A whole year is added to your subscription starting from your existing expiration date. There won’t be any loss of time from the existing subscription. The same rule goes for the automatic renewals that happen a month before the current subscription expiry.

If you have purchased the latest version or another product:
If you have not renewed the existing subscription and instead purchased a new one, then the expiration date will extend to one year from the purchased date. You might receive an email about upgrading the product. Read the mail carefully to see if the expiration date is extended to one year or not.

FAQ 7: I want to verify if my subscription service is successfully renewed and up to date.

Follow the given commands to verify the successful renewal of the subscription:

Open your email to check for a confirmation mail with the subject ” Automatic Renewal Notification.” You will find the following information in the email:
Name of the subscriber
Renewal’s order number
Date of the renewal
Name of the renewed product
Price of the renewal along with any tax.
Now, go to the ”My account” page and verify the status of the subscription by following the given steps:
Sign in to your McAfee account.
Go to the ”My Account” option and choose the ”Subscriptions” option.
Find your renewal purchase there.
Now go to ”My Profile” from the same section.
Confirm your expiration date.
Now to confirm if your service is up to date, follow the given steps:
Launch your McAfee product.
You will see a gray icon with a red exclamation mark if the subscription is expired.
Tap the ”My Subscriptions” option.
Confirm that the subscription expiration date matches with the one displayed in ”My Account.”
