How Do I Select The Correct Puc Subjects?

After Class 10, Pre-University College (PUC) is usually the preferred option for most students. A PUC degree is the minimum qualification required to get admission into Top 10 BBA colleges in bangalore, or elsewhere if you want to pursue higher education. In a city like Bangalore, there are a vast number of PUC colleges to choose from. This article can maybe help you choose the correct subjects at one of the PUC levels.
What is PUC?
A PUC course is a two year course with a major board exam at the end of the second year. There are different boards to choose from and you should opt for the one most similar to the board of your School up to 10th standard. The common boards in Bangalore are ISC, CBSE, SSLC and IGCSE. Different schools offer different subjects, but the three streams remain the same- Science, Commerce and Arts.
What are the subjects I have to choose from?
In most cases, you will have to study four core subjects from each stream along with English and maybe a second language such as Kannada, Hindi, French, German and others. If you choose the Science stream, you can opt for Physics, Chemistry, ...
... Mathematics and Biology (PCMB). If you don'tdon't like Biology, you can study a subject like Economics, Computer Science or Home Science instead. You can also choose not to study Mathematics and opt for another subject instead.
An important thing to be noted is that if you choose the science stream, you have the freedom to pursue degrees such as BA, BBA, BCom etc., afterwards. However, if you select the Commerce or Arts stream, you will be unable to pursue Science graduation programs.
Popular Commerce stream subjects include Economics, Accounting, Business Studies, Mathematics, Commercial studies and more. You can opt not to do Mathematics if you feel like you cannot cope up.
The Arts stream has subjects such as Sociology, History, Psychology, Political Studies, Geography and many more.
Choosing the right stream-
The advantage of PUC is that you have two years to find out your strengths and weaknesses. If you feel like you cannot cope up with Science, then do not choose it as it is taxing and difficult for students who do not have a knack for it. However, it is best to keep your options open, especially if you are uncertain about what career choice you want to take.
The Commerce stream could be labelled as ""easier"" than Science, but it usually has subjects that have never been taught before in School and could be taxing for students who have a liking for statistics, data analysis and numbers.
And lastly, the Arts stream is often labelled as the stream chosen by students who score low marks. This could not be further from the truth as the best Lawyers, Economists, Journalists and Social Scientists come from a Humanities background.
It is crucial for you as a student to be clear with your parents about what subjects you want to take up. Scoring a 95 in Science does not automatically qualify you to take up Science in PUC as it is a whole different level of difficulty. Remember to not feel pressured by your relatives and neighbours. Try to select one of the best BBA Colleges in Bangalore and do not settle for a sub-standard educational institution.
