What does History say?

Early models of bike rack render support of one wheel, either fixed in the ground or attached to a metal. However, this system is not so effective as a thief need to remove only one wheel to free the bike. Further, that didn't offer much support, and all the bicycles of the row have a chance to fall altogether. Such kinds of racks are called "wheel benders".

Removable Mounts: Some models of bike stands are installed with mounting systems and are temporarily removable. Removable mountings are used in areas where the removal of bikes is allowed for temporary access for emergency, delivery and maintenance purposes.

Wall Mounts: Some of the bike racks are designed to be mounted with the wall by using bolts and connecting the flanges with the existing walls. This will save space and is useful for long-term storages.

Surface: Flanges extending outwards from the rear part of bike rack are secured with lag bolts. For extra support, surface mounts also contain triangular brackets, also called gusset plates, to make the connection between flange and tubing. The surface mounts are used to secure bike rack with an existing piece of concrete.

In-ground: The bike rack base is attached to the ground, and secured by perpendicular anchor pin for stability. These make it stable from theft and vandalism.
