The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s (FSSAI) commence to limit the trans-fat in food parts that use edible oil as an ingredient to 2% is consumer-friendly and will not put the load on the industry as most companies are already launching on reducing trans-fat in their products. The Food regulator FSSAI affirmed the regulations to decrease the content of Tran’s fat in all food items have been particularised.
With a gazette of the latest guidance to restrict the content of trans fats in all food items, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) enters the league of various other nations globally having a best practice framework for trans-fat elimination.

Also, India joins the club of almost 40 countries globally that have already set excellent practice strategies to eliminate trans fats and would be among the first countries in Asia after Thailand in obtaining the best-practice policies in trans-fat elimination.

Moreover, the Food Safety and Standards has declared on Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales of Second Amendment Regulations, 2021, has been mentioned earlier last month.
The food products in which edible oils and fats are utilised as an ingredient should not involve industrial Trans fatty acids more than 2 per cent by mass of the aggregate oils present in the stock as on and from January 1, 2022.

It also simplifies industrial Tran’s fatty acids as all the geometrical isomers of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids having non-conjugated, suspended by at least one methylene group, carbon-carbon double bonds in the transform. It reduces trans-fatty acids from dairy, meat, fish, and commodities.
