The flu season is often cruel and vicious at times. This flu virus is also very deadly if not properly treated. It is notorious for the quick rate with which it spreads, infecting both young and old in its wake. However, this disease is not incurable, which means that it can be prevented, and it can also be cured with the right vaccine and proper treatment measures. The fact that this flu is very much contagious makes one wonder how the spread can be cubbed if a family member contracts the flu. Here, we will show you possible ways to prevent the spread of the flu virus in your home by adequately disinfecting your house.
If the flu has infected a member of your family, and you wish to take care of them in the home premises without endangering others in the process, here are vital tips to help your course:
1) Quarantine the infected person
The flu can only spread when an infected person coughs, sneeezes, or talks directly to another person. And it can be contracted if an unprotected healthy person stays within six feet of the infected at these times. It can also be caught if a healthy person makes contact ...
... with an infected surface directly. Hence, the disease's spread can be avoided by confining the sick person to a private quarter until they fully recover.
2) Sterilise surfaces to disinfect them
It has been established that the flu virus can be transmitted through surfaces. The virus can last for as long as 24hours on a surface and can be contacted if a healthy person touches that surface within that period. Therefore, if you are housing an infected person, you are advised to disinfect surrounding critical surfaces regularly using antibacterial cleaners and sanitisers. It would help if you also were careful not to support the spread unintentionally. After cleaning the surfaces, soak the mop and wipes in a bleach solution for about 20 minutes, rinse and dry.
3) Wash and disinfect the bathroom carefully
When it comes to containing the spread of any disease, bathrooms are very critical. Therefore when cleaning an infected person’s bathroom, you must be extra-careful. Use disinfectants for each material you clean and clean the toilet daily. Also, adhere to these three essential bathroom tips.

Use only disposal cups for patient
Infected persons must use separate towels, and they should not be shared with a healthy person
Keep toothbrushes apart. This means that the infected person's toothbrush must be kept away from that of other family members

4) Be careful with laundries
While doing laundry for the flu-infected person, tread cautiously and avoid direct contact with their clothes for as much as you can. Do not hug the clothes while transporting them to the washer. Instead, you can introduce a laundry basket and transport the clothes in them. After doing laundry for an infected person, always disinfect the materials used. And also, take time to disinfect the washing machine, sterilising both the inside and the outside surfaces using bleach or sanitisers.
Finally, while disinfecting the house, it is also essential to stay disinfected yourself. Practice the following safety protocols:

Always use hand gloves when making contact with infected persons or surfaces
If you must go close to an infected person, always cover your mouth and nose using a nose masks
You are also advised to wash and disinfect your hands regularly, especially after going close to an infected person or material
