But, how many do you think have this perfect life?
Well, to be honest, not many. Most people out there have some sort of financial, emotional, or health problem just like you.
And the only reason they are better is that they are working on sorting them out while you're too busy criticizing yourself.
And this isn't the only problem with negative talks. Here are three more ways in which negative self-talk is affecting your life, making it dark.
Perfectionism
The word perfectionism is a good thing when you know what you're doing. But when your mind is all over the place, you need to believe in yourself. You need to believe that you can be good at something.
And, this isn't possible if you are focused more on others around you. It causes you to think that even when you are good, you are not perfect. Even when you achieve something, you won't be happy but feel that you need more.
It pushes you to do better but, at the same time, prevents you from being happy. The negative self-talk combined with this kind of nature will destroy ...
... even the most talented people. It will make you an aggressive, demoralized, and hard-to-handle person.
Rather, try to compartmentalize the situation and treat your problem as a bad phase, not a bad life. Enjoy the little things and not just your achievements but also others.
And rather than focusing on failure, think of ways out of it. For instance, if your team is failing to complete a goal, don't think of yourself as a bad leader. Instead, get applications, hold meetings, talk to your team and ask their views to eliminate the problem.
Limited Thinking
There's a theory that what you think is what you become. It means if you think you cannot do something, you won't be able to do it. It's because the negative thoughts in your brain will affect your subconscious part. It will make it believe that you don't have the knowledge or the skill.
As a result, your subconscious will prevent you from fully dedicating your brain and physical body towards the target. It's one of the toxic effects of building a negative environment and ill-treating yourself.
Trying to shift your perspective will help with this part. Start believing in yourself and the skills or knowledge you have.
Even if you are not good at something, you can achieve it with dedication and time. Understand, good things take time. So, look for the good and learn from your mistakes rather than beating yourself over them.
Demoralization and Depression
The worst part of negative self-talk is that it cuts you off from the ones you love. It creates a feeling that you are no good and induce doubts in every aspect of life. And you know, without that trust and bonding, it's hard to maintain a relationship with anyone.
Moreover, with no one motivating you, things get a lot worse. Thus, you end up demoralized and lose hope, which eventually makes you stressed.
The quick and the most effective remedy here is to surround yourself with good people who have positive thoughts and your good at heart. Try to communicate with them rather than talking to yourself.
Another good trick is to treat your negative thoughts and self-talk as another person. Give this person a goofy name. Your mind will treat it as an outside force, and with a Goofy name, you won't necessarily take it seriously.
Final Words
Negative talking and undermining yourself is never a solution to any problem. It only makes you feel bad and underestimate yourself, which in the long term affects your decision-making, peace of mind, and your personal life.
So, never let your negative thoughts get the best of you. Believe in yourself!
