Verizon To Double Its 5g Coverage In 2021

Ever since the launch of its next-gen network last year in October, Verizon is looking to take things on a bigger scale. In the year 2021, the company has some big plans for 5G penetration and expansion. Verizon will look to expand its ultra-fast mmWave coverage. Since 5G has been restricted to select areas in select cities, the company has a huge task in its hand. As of now, the 5G network depends a lot on the user’s proximity to a 5G site because of the inherent technology that powers It.

The current version of the network is referred to as 5G Ultra-Wideband (5G UW), Although it does give users high speeds the coverage is poor. In 2021, Verizon’s mission is to expand the network coverage. The company has decided to add more than 14,000 new “sites” to their 5G network which will almost double their current network.

... boost range, so there is a great scope for improvement. The company has already started working on the project and they will likely achieve the network expansion targets that they have set for themselves.

Verizon has announced that in 2021 it will add 20 more cities to its 5G UW coverage list and its area of coverage will be double to 30,000 sites. Just last week, the company surpassed its milestone of covering 60 cities. So, it is likely that we will see a similar trend in the future as well.

2021 will be an important year for Verizon as it will look to accelerate service revenue and capture new market opportunities. 5G is all set to revolutionize the world as we know it and companies will be competing hard to dominate the new market opportunity. Verizon has a great chance over other networks since it has a head start. It has will likely reach all expansion targets that it has set this year. Although the effects of these small wins might not seem significant as of now but in the coming years the when 5G becomes mainstream Verizon will be rewarded for its efforts.
