However, if you want to stand out with your leather jacket, attaching patches to leather vest could be a promising choice. However, attaching patches to leather vest is no piece of cake; some people can attach it through stitching but the commercial businesses need sewing machines designed for stitching leather. On the contrary, if you have to add a patch for yourself only, we have the details!
Attaching Patches to Leather Vest

First of all, you must make the tape loop and add it to the backside of the patch. This helps keep the patch in place while you are sewing it and it can be removed whenever you want. However, you shouldn’t use the double-sided tape because it can be hard to remove, so use the scotch tape
Once you’ve attached the tape, place it on the desired area on the vest but you will need to remove the lining if your jacket has one
Now, take the nylon or polyester thread in the matching color and pass it through the leather-specific needles
Start pushing in the needle through the embellished edge of the patch and make sure to start from the corner. Also, always use a thimble
...
... Once you’ve made one stitch, push it back through the leather and make sure to stiffen the stitch; it’s suggested to use the whip stitch
After sewing around the entire patch, make the final knot or stitch under the leather jacket, and don’t forget to bind the thread. As far as the stitches are concerned, always use the close, tight, and small stitches
In case you don’t want to hand-sew the patch on the leather jacket, you could use the sewing machine designed specifically for sewing the leather. However, with the machine, you will need to use the adhesive spray and make sure to use it in the just-right amount because overdoing it will make issues for you. However, if you don’t have the adhesive spray, the flue stick can be used.
All in all, with machine-sewing, you will need to overlap the stitches, first and last to ensure they are in place. Irrespective of the sewing method that you use, you must cut off the excessive thread as it promises neatness.
