How You Can Improve Your Digestion

Digestive health influences almost all other aspects of the body, but of the top three is the immune system. If you have a susceptibility to infections or allergic reactions, your digestive health needs to be cared for.
Nowadays, a lot of people are considering digestion syrups after their meals. Check out brands like Siddhayu, that have made a mark in the market with extremely safe and effective products for digestion and immunity like sugarfree chyawanprash, multivitamin tablets for men, appetite stimulants etc.
Other things you can implement to improve your gut health:
1. Eat a variety of vegetables, fruit, fermented foods, healthy fats, and quality protein. The more diverse your diet is the better it is for the microbiome. Different vegetables will support the growth of different bacteria and diversity is the biggest indicator for a healthy microbiome. So, choose one new vegetable each week to try. You might end up liking it. Always remember that health is not complicated. It is simple if you want it to be.
2. Minimize inflammatory foods ...
... like white flour, sugar, dairy, and gluten.
3. Avoid harsh chemicals in personal care and cleaning products (hand sanitizer, disinfectants etc)
4. Sleep helps ensure a happy microbiome. Your microbiome will shift if you are sleep deprived. So, make sure you are getting good quality sleep (waking feeling refreshed) and good quantity that is at least 8 hours every night.
5. Avoid eating or snacking late at night or right before going to bed.
6. Adopt time-restricted eating, having meals within a certain window.
7. Practice digestive breathing i.e., taking long deep breaths before and after your meals. This creates a relaxed abdominal area.
8. Make sure you chew your food thoroughly. It ensures smooth digestion and improves the digestion process.
9. Drink lots of water. 1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal can help with digestion. The best way to consume it is after boiling it. Now, when we say boiled water, it means that you need to boil your water and then wait for it to cool down to a warm temperature. It does not mean that you only need to warm it a bit.
Here’s why you must boil it?
Boiling water makes the water much lighter & easier to digest. Prepare your water by boiling it until it reduces to half of its original volume or just reaching a boiling point. This process will make it easy for digestion. Drinking boiled warm water first thing in the morning is a great way to kick start your digestion as it speeds up your metabolism. Also, drinking a glass of boiled water before bedtime will help in the digestion of food & stimulate your intestinal function to remove toxins efficiently the next morning.
1. Indulge in bedtime teas like peppermint, ginger, or lavender. They calm your nerves and facilitate a good night sleep.
2. Avoid cold drinks & acid blockers. Your body can't efficiently break down & absorb food without stomach acid.
3. Avoid overuse of antibiotics. They disrupt the microbiome long-term.
4. Consider effective and quality products like ayurvedic immunity boosters that impart multi-level immunity of the digestive system.
5. Get a stool test done. It can help diagnose certain conditions affecting the digestive tract.
