Netflix has been the go-to over-the-top content platform in the world for the last few years. Just last year it gained an astounding 15 million subscribers in the first quarter of 2020 as pandemic raged. Just a few weeks ago it crosses 200 million subscribers and is expected to gain another 6 million in the first quarter of 2021. Although Netflix’s reign at the top has not gone unchallenged, all other over-the-top content platforms have failed to provide as much quality and original content as Netflix. If the present-day trends are followed in the coming years Netflix will become too big for other platforms to catch up.

Netflix is aware of its competition and it works relentlessly to ensure that it is better than any other company at what it does. It has ensured every year that its content is better than the previous year while also adding new features to make streaming entertaining and less cumbersome. However, the Shuffle Play feature is almost certain to be released in the first half of 2021. As per the report the company had made it official as part of its latest financial results. In the testing phase, the shuffle feature helped viewers pick the right content for them based on their viewing history. Most viewers were overwhelmed by the options that they had on Netflix, so the Shuffle Play feature is going to be a great addition for them.

Netflix has launched several useful features in the last few years but none of them is as useful as Shuffle Play. The new addition will likely make the viewing experience much more enriching for the viewers. With the growing competition from other over-the-top content providers, it is crucial that Netflix not only provides quality content but the viewing experience is just as good. The company has understood this and now is working towards its goal to make the platform an ideal one. Although it will likely face tough competition in the coming years, the relentless approach of Netflix will most probably ensure that it remains on the top in the coming decade.
