When you think of a historical place, rich in history, culture, architecture and art, what place do you think of? Maybe Europe? Perhaps Mexico? Although Europe is the stereotype for many, it is interesting to note that when considering historical sight-seeing even many Europeans consider a trip to Mexico as an ideal choice.

As a North American choosing to live and buy real estate in another country, it is worth considering this fact; Yucatan Real Estate provides one of the finest examples of how you as North American can live a warmer climate in a country rich in history and culture - for which it is famous world-wide, and still be relatively close to home, living on a much smaller budget than back home (and especially than if you were to look in Europe.)

Yucatan is home to many, many ancient Mayan pyramid sites, including Chichen Itza, one of the most complete and well-preserved, now counted as one of the Wonders of the World. An interesting point about the Mayan culture, though, is that in never died out; the ...
... Mayan people still live with their own traditions in Yucatan and the surrounding area. Even in Yucatan's capital, Merida, walking through certain neighborhoods you are quite likely to hear people speaking Maya.

The capital of Merida is also a beautiful colonial city, dating to the times of the conquest. The colonial charm of this city, combined with the incredible history of the Mayan civilization continues to draw visitors from many parts of the world, including Americans, Canadians, and even Europeans, who feel that the magic of these places merits a trip over the Atlantic, giving them preference over the many historical sites on that continent. If you choose to live in Yucatan, you will enjoy this magical atmosphere as a part of your day to day life.

Another choice offering a similar combination is Campeche Real Estate, the state right next to Yucatan on the Golf coast; like Yucatan and many of the nearby places, Campeche was a part of the Mayan Civilization, and includes many less-discovered, but no less awe-inspiring pyramid sites. Many consider the newly restored capital (also called Campeche) to be the cleanest, safest and most visually appealing colonial city, surrounded by fort-walls to protect against pirates, with only Merida offering close competition.

On the other side of the Yucatan Peninsula, the Caribbean coast, the island of Cozumel likewise combines a rich blend of history, with many ruins which are favorite for the cruise visitors arriving to the island. While Cozumel Real Estate does not offer colonial architecture, it is one of only two communities on Mexico's Caribbean coast which has been continuously inhabited since the time of the Mayan Civilization.

In all three of these locations, real estate buyers can choose from traditional Mexican homes, contemporary condos on the beachfront, lots to build your own dream home, and many other choices.

While there are other such areas nearby, these are three clean, safe and beautiful communities which visually combine centuries of history, and, what's more, in this current day Mayan, Mexican and international culture blend in day to day life. If the idea of living in a place rich in culture and history appeals to you, consider Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.
