Cancun Real Estate - Focus On Conventions And Sustainability

Cancun will be hosting the next international summit on world climate change. For Cancun real estate, this fact represents to different, but very important trends; one is that real estate in Cancun is going greener; the other is that Cancun is going international - or rather, more international. Similar trends can be seen in Playa del Carmen and Tulum real estate.

The fact that Cancun and the surrounding area is going greener is becoming more and more obvious. While the trend was seen for Mexico on the whole at the previous forum held in Panama, with the country's Minister of the Environment urging other countries in the region to strengthen communication and work on a common agenda to position Latin America and the Caribbean's interests effectively in the upcoming World Climate Change Summit.

... and the nearby areas. About an hour and a half down the road, Tulum is expecting to see significant real estate growth in the near future, with ever-growing tourism and an upcoming international airport. The new municipality has already made a well designed urban plan to promote growth and at the same time preserve and integrate the area's natural surroundings which draw a so many people; recently two "green" forums were also held, focusing on design, style and home products (one was called "Eco Glamour.")

The upcoming meeting for Tulum's branch of Mexico's Association for Real Estate Professionals (AMPI) is also taking a green focus, presenting sustainability as the key point for the towns new development. Right between Cancun and Tulum, a growing number of Playa del Carmen properties can also be found which take sustainable ideas into account for design and efficiency.

The other point which is reflected through this meeting for Environment Ministers is the growing importance for the Cancun area as an international business and conference destination. Due to the high availability of hotel rooms during low seasons and the convenience of staying in these locations, Cancun and the Riviera Maya (the stretch including Playa del Carmen, reaching to Tulum) has been chosen more and more for high-profile international meetings.

This new trend led the company operating the Cancun international airport to construct a second runway on the airport, and promises to bring new development and real estate growth to the area as well.
