Today people crave for getting something different and this is applicable when shopping for many things. This is not true when it comes to certain things pertaining to traditions. Indian Hindu marriage card is a classic example. The weddings are ritualistic and the cards are traditional.

Gujaratis love celebrations and they are blessed with many celebrations through out the year. Their weddings are their biggest private celebrations and they would love to invite their friends and acquaintances for the weddings. They also believe that guests need to be treated well and hospitality is their forte. You will receive a wedding card traditionally done which informs you of the wedding and Gujarati kankotri is their wedding card.

What Is Gujarati Kankotri Tahuko?

A wedding card which is simple and which does not give importance to ostentation and designs is also printed. Gujarati kankotri tahuko is a wedding card which is printed giving importance to wordings. There is a strict format for using words and words which are formally used are selected and the card is strictly formal. The designs which correspond to the rituals are used and the card is minimalistic with regard to designs.



These cards are printed in Gujarati and they are distributed amongst relatives. As they are aware of the rituals and ceremonies, they attend the functions though they are not mentioned in detail. A format is fixed for these cards and even today the cards are printed following this format. Small deviation is allowed but generally hosts stick to the unwritten rules of Gujarati kankotri tahuko.



Designs And Words!

The images of house, mango leaves, diyas, lanterns, lotus flower are the few designs used in the cards. The cards can be printed in any colour but previously it was done in white background in black ink. Here, the wordings play an important role. Words which spell respect are used and the use of gracious words make the card meaningful. The warmth, love and respect for the guests can be portrayed through words and they are used. You will not see the cards printed in other formats. It is still traditionally done.
