The brakes are the most essential part of your vehicle. If they don’t work properly then many life-threatening accidents can happen. To prevent such a situation, you should keep your brakes maintained at all times.

The braking system of your vehicle consists of many components that cooperate and work together for the system to run smoothly. If even a single part is faulty or doesn’t function well, then it would affect the performance of the entire braking system.

The function of the brakes
The brakes are responsible for stopping your car. Just like the bones in a human body are connected, the braking system also has many parts. The brakes won’t work properly even if one of its parts is not working properly.

When we press the brakes of our vehicle, the cylinder gets activated and takes the fluid to the calipers that then occupies the brake pads. Your brake pads apply the required pressure to the rotors, which creates the friction needed to stop the vehicle. It is a whole process.

Following are the parts of a braking system and their functions:

What is a Brake Rotor?
The ...
... rotor is a disc that is connected to each tire. When you press the brakes, the brake pads compress against the rotor and create friction. The friction causes the rotor to stop spinning and your vehicle stops as well.

What is a Brake Caliper?
The caliper is the part that is used to apply pressure on the brake pads. The pads then compress the rotor. You can take your pick from the three
types of brake calipers  according to your preference. The calipers have pistons and they require fluid to work properly.

What are Brake pads used for?
The brake pads are present between the calipers and the rotor. They are pressed down to create friction for the tires to stop working. All the other parts of your car will start to wear down without a properly functioning brake pad.

Why Brake fluid is important?
Brake fluid is one of the most important components of the braking system. It helps the components to work properly without getting damaged. The fluid is supplied through the
brake pipe19  to the parts of the system which require fluid to run smoothly.

What are the Brake cables?
The brake cables connect the pedal, handle, and lever to the vehicle's braking system. if a braking car gets damaged or stops working, then the whole braking system would be of no use.

Importance of the Abs pump
The abs pump is responsible for preventing the tires from locking and skidding when you apply the brakes. It provides stability to your vehicle and also makes it easier for the driver to have better control of the steering. Abs pump proper functionality is important for a risk-free drive. So, always consider
abs pump repair when you sense an issue in your abs pump.

Along with these factors, there are some other things as well that affect the performance of your tires and your braking system. For example, the suspension of your car plays an important role in your safe driving. If the suspension of your car is broken, then your car will become wobbly and some parts of your vehicle will wear out soon due to the improper alignment. You should consult your
air suspension specialist so he can guide you and repair your car’s suspension.

What causes the brake system to fail?
The most common reason for a failed brake system is the loss of brake fluid. Brake fluid is necessary for the normal working of your vehicle. Everything in the braking system can get damaged if there is a brake fluid leak. You can notice a leak easily as you will see the patches of fluid underneath your car. If such a thing happens, you are advised to not drive your car and get it repaired immediately.
