The recovery of any document can be made easy if the reason for its loss is known. After the reason is known there are several methods to recover the lost document. If the document is lost or is deleted by mistake, we can use Word Recovery to retrieve it.
The following are the steps to be taken to recover a lost or deleted word document:
1. First and foremost, look in your recycle bin and confirm that the document is really lost. Most of the cases the document is found there unless the recycle bin is also cleared of its contents. If found just retrieve it. If not found follow the steps.
2. Start Word Recovery to restore the document.
3. Select the disk that the word document was in before it was deleted
4. Allow the software to scan the drive for the document. If there is a new document its details are displayed, pay attention for your document
5. After the scan is done, Word Recovery will show all the files found. To select a particular file, click on it and display it.
6. Select the files that need to be recovered by clicking the check boxes provided. One can select multiple files ...
... for recovery also.
7. For ease of search, filtering is provided that filters the search criteria by text, title, author, and document type, size, modification and also whether the file was lost, deleted or already exists. It is an intelligent option to select and search only files that have been lost and deleted here.
8. Enter the recover button after selecting the file. If the software is a trial version software a license key needs to be purchased. After that click the recover button
9. Take care to give another destination folder for saving the file after recovery. This folder should be different from the one from which it was lost. This is to ensure that the data is not overwritten and is correctly retrieved. Otherwise a temporary storage device may be used to store this file on a temporary basis if sufficient hard disk space is not available.
10. After this the recovered file can be moved to its original location.
Alternatively if the Word document was in the old format or corrupted or over written then DOC Regenerator should be used to recover the file. This will scan the disk for contents of the corrupted file in back up files. If the contents were overwritten or corrupted, it will regenerate from the file fragments that are found.
